As she thought, Casey actually got the role from Akeem’s show and it had almost been the easiest role she could get her hands on. She didn’t hate it, in fact, it was nice to be able to work with someone she had grown used too and besides, his show wouldn’t end up giving her schedule conflicts and she could manage it. It wasn’t the first time she appeared in more than one shows at once while performing music too so it was the usual business to her and she felt like she was able to take on another role too. It was distracting her and she was able to move on more than she thought. Acting always helped her to forget about her emotions and when she was feeling it too much, she did other things to distract herself.
She was on a break on set and drinking a welcoming cup of coffee. They woke up early when they were filming and they were doing it all days. She didn’t mind it since it was her life and she was re-reading her lines to make sure she got everything right as she was taking a sip of her water bottle. Everyone was nice and friendly and she appreciated it. She checked her phone when she got a message text from Franck and chuckled before she replied to him and told him a bit of how it was on the set.

The concept itself was pretty easy for Akeem, so had been the writing of the scripts. He already wrote most of it, he simply had to expand each episodes to last longer which allowed him to develop certain things. Two people, of different race and religion, meeting each other and falling for each other and dating while everyone else in their entourage had something to say about it. It was a comedy, he made sure of it, but he also wanted it to be some social statement at the core.
It was a bit weird to be both a director and an actor. He did that for his channel but not for something of this level. He couldn't get a lot of them involved in the filming but he still offered them the chance to audition, so it was something. What was really weird was how he was not the only writer and director. Sure, that could happen on the channel too, but it was his baby and he sometimes had trouble letting others take control and do more than just give ideas. This was a lot of work for him however so he ended up rather glad not to be writing the scripts all on hiw own, and they actually did their best to respect his general idea. And they were a lot better than he was and doing a planning for the day and hold onto it.
Sometimes, changes had to be made however. "Ha, there you are. Good," he said as he spotted Casey. He meant to find her earlier but he ran around not seeing her at first. He picked a nearby chair to sit next to her. "We've got a problem. So the guy who's meant to play Amir can't be here today, so we've talked about this and we'll be other scenes. Can I have a look at your script one minute?" It was a shame, since a good part of the episode was precisely on this Amir character trying to push her away from him to reveal he had a bit of a gay crush at the end and explain why he had been so protective until being certain she was a good enough girl for him. This meant most of the scenes involved him but there were little they could do when he was completely incapacitated. He didn't feel like calling a second choice and hope they had not signed up for something else and could show up in the minute. "With a bit of luck, he'll be able to turn up later today. If he can't come tomorrow as well, we'll have to replace him though. Or move to a different script and leave that one for later." He shouldn't be telling her that but he couldn't help himself.

Casey was aware that being a director and acting in your own tv show might be something and she wasn’t upset over the fact that Akeem was spending time leading everything on set and not spending as much time with the actors. Work was work and it had to be done, she did think that he had it in him through the times that she watched him doing so. Looks like for another time Youtube had landed them a good asset.
She also had to admit that being in a lighter show was doing her good as she didn’t have to worry about all the drama that would happen for her character. It wasn’t like the first show that she had with Akeem. Speaking of which, she raised her head when she heard him and raised her head as he sat next to him. Luckily, she had finished reading the lines she wanted to check and was ready to listen to what he had to say. A problem? That was a bummer for the Amir character but they could certainly do other scenes meanwhile. “That blows, but sure.” She said to him as she showed him the script that she had.
She nodded, not minding that he was confiding in her and smiled at him. “I’m sure you’ll find a solution, it’s your show and you’re good at what you’re doing.” She said. She wasn’t trying to flirt with him though, she just said what she thought.

"Yeah, but it's not like we can do anything about it, so we're trying to just keep up with the schedule." They were actually going crazy, thinking of how what set they had ready or location they can go to, even if that meant shooting for another episode. It was weird and crazy and they all had to find a solution in the minute, which they did he supposed. Time, in this case, did cost money and they couldn't afford losing too much of it because they couldn't shoot one day.
"Thanks. I can rreally use that boost of confidence right now, this can be pretty crazy. There are a lot more decisions to make than usual and even if I'm not the only one calling the shots, it does feel like it rests mostly on me." Again, he didn't mean to share all this but it came out naturally. He needed to vent it out to avoid stressing over it more than necessary.
As he talked, he had been flipping through the pages to get to the scenes they would do instead. "So we'll be the one where you're trying to convince me that my best friend either hates you or is hitting on you and we'll do this scene too," he said, giving the script back at the scene in question. He leaned closer to her to look at it at the same time.

Casey nodded; they indeed couldn’t do anything about someone who wasn’t showing up and it wasn’t their fault either. All they had to do was to get back to another scene and keep up with filming episodes. They had to keep going and she was okay with it as she was used to it with the other show she was on. “That’s right all we can do is pick a new scene.” She wasn’t going to tell the director what he should do. It was his show so he should know what he wanted to do with it and he seemed to be in control.
She smiled at him and chuckled a bit as he seemed to be freaking out a little. “Hey, it’ll go just fine. What scene are we going to work on then?” She asked him as he was flipping the through her script. She grabbed the script back, not aware of how close Akeem was suddenly to her and looked down at the script. “That works with me.” She said as she read the lines to make sure she knew what she was going to say next. It was an easy script to memorize for her so she was glad that she could easily switch from one scene to another.

The thing that made it all a bit more complicated was that it was a television show, not a movie. They didn't have a script for all episodes just yet, they couldn't necessarily jump back and forth between them. Still, Akeem hoped that this new schedule would work out well and that no other external obstacle would stand in the way. That was a relatively minor problem but he was in charge of the set, in great part at least, and he wanted everything to go as smoothly as possible. It was just so stressful for him since it was his directorial debut.
Casey was trying to reassure him and he smiled, chuckled even as she laughed. Yes, he needed to calm down. "I can't help but want everything to go as well as possible. But you're right," he said before going to the scenes they would be doing instead. "You'll be fine or you want to practice it a bit first? I know we did a reading before but we weren't planning on doing those just yet at that time..." It was funny how he was more nervous during those moments, when alone or not in front of the camera and practicing. Once he had to do it for real, he was a lot better, getting into the moment and what was expected of him.

Casey was aware that Akeem was working hard and was probably stressed about it all. It must be why he came and talked to her about these things. That and the fact that they knew each other rather well helped too. She supported him with his dream career and now that he was facing it, trying to make the best of it to sell his show. She did think that it had potential and that people would enjoy a bit of light show that talked about actual subjects that were debated.
“Of course you want that, it’s your show, it’s like your baby.” She said to him. Who wouldn’t want their show to go well? She smiled when he asked about the next scene. “I’m good, I had time to read it before too so we can get to it whenever you’re ready.” She said. She was glad that he seemed to be more relaxed than earlier. Their jobs could be quite stressful and she didn’t need Akeem to be on a burn out because he was having high expectations of himself.

Working on his show for television was strange. With his friends, since they never knew when they would be able to film again, they had to do everything per location and move on like this, much like when filming a movie. Now, he was doing it by episode. The difference may not seem big but it was still strange. At least the oen sick played his friend, it was not Casey. There weren't that many scenes they could shoot without it and would have been forced to stop for the day and wait until she was in a better state.
He shouldn't be talking too much about the stress of being both an actor and a director on the show. She was an actress and didn't have to deal with it. Plus she could feel like he couldn't properly handle the show. He had to at least look like he could deal with the pressure of directing a show. He shouldn't be sharing his burden with her. But she understood how he felt so well. He had people above his head, looking down at him and ready to replace him at the director's chair at the first chance they got. He had to do well, and Casey was an ally for this, she did feel like it to him.
He nodded, glad she was ready, meaning they would be able to do the scene quckly and not lose too much time. "That's good. Then, we'll do that scene and the date one like we were scheduled to do then I guess we'll have to stop and wait to see tomorrow what we can do" He didn't need to tell her how they were reorganizing the planning and see if they would be able to get another actor just in case for the next day. Delays cost a lot of money after all and they couldn't afford that. He certainly could not if he wanted to prove himself. "I'll leave you so you can prep up and do the same. See you in a bit." He told her before leaving her side to make sure everything would be ready and getting into his character.

Casey could feel that Akeem was stressed about the show and she could understand the fact that he wanted it to go big. It was his writing and his script. She couldn’t blame him for wanting everything to be perfect and putting everything on his shoulders while he could have others to help. She could get that he wanted everything to be perfect and the public to like it. It was big for him; it was his show and it was his dream. She could get the fact that he wanted to realize his dreams. She would have wanted the same thing but it didn’t come easily.
She didn’t think he didn’t handle everything right. He seemed to know what he was doing and he could talk to her if he wanted. She thought it was better to vent before you blew up because you were too stressed from work. She listened to him as he said their planning of the day and nodded at him. “Alright, let’s get that going.” She said with a smile. “See you later.” She said to him as she went to get ready for the scenes. Work was work and she needed to be ready so once she was, she went back to the scenes with him. It was light working for her but she understood that it wasn’t the same for him.

Akeem loved acting, that was the first thing he picked up. But he had grown to love screenwriting and directing as well, if not perhaps more. With this project, a lot was on his shoulders. If it bombed, he couldn't blame a lot of people other than himself. Sure, there were other writers now who helped him with the script and changed certain things, sure he had producers who demanded certain things, but the original idea was his, he was directing it and he was starring as the male lead. If things went wrong, it would be his fault and he would have to wait a long time before getting another chance like this one. So he was pretty stressed.
He realised he shouldn't be saying all of that to Casey. She didn't have to shoulder his burden and that would make him appear weak as a director. He couldn't allow that. He had to be confident and show that he knew what he was doing. Or else, why would everyone else wor hard for this? He needed to talk to so many people while working and he needed to take charge of everything or at least look like he could do it.
The producers there wanted him to do more scenes. A longer time to film everything meant higher cost so they wanted them to cram as many scenes as possible for today. He explained that certain things out of their control meant that a lot of the scenes couldn't be shot today but he ended up spending a lot of his time talking to them about other things they could do to reduce the filming schedule.
Because of that, he was a bit late to get ready for his role. They seemed to have forgotten that he was playing in that thing too, or perhaps was it their way of making him give up the role to someone else. Or the directing. But he didn't want to. It was his project and he would do it.
He worked the scenes he told Casey about. It was funny how, during breaks, he was nervous at the thought they would have to kiss during the date scene, but how he felt none of that while filming with her. It was just natural, he went along the script and what should happen when two people were on a date. It was no longer Casey and Akeem, it was their characters and he thought the scenes flowed perfectly. He hoped people would see the same chemistry between them that he believed he could see.

Casey didn’t mind it if Akeem wanted to vent to her about the shows and how stressful it could be. She could understand and didn’t see him in a different light than what she knew of him already. He had talent in what he was doing and she was willing to go with whatever he wanted to do for his show. She did agree to act in it as it would give her extra credits too. Both would benefit from it and they needed to make it great, as for her, she needed to act top notch so the show would be more credible.
She went back into acting the scenes they were going to perform and went with the flow. It was daily routine for her and nothing different for her. It didn’t bother her to kiss him on screen either. It’s not like they hadn’t done that already and she was glad that people seemed to like them together. She wondered about if they would get him back on their first show together or not. They’d probably see what they were going to do with the public opinion later.
She stretched her arms a little once they were done with the filming for the day, she was going through her mind for her schedule and thought she could go grab a bite before she’d be on her way to practice with her vocals.

Akeem definitely put a lot of weight on his shoulders with this show. He knew how well it went on youtube, he knew what his audience there would like, but this was television. The audience was different, the people you had to please to make it on the air was far larger with very different rules and demands. He didn't want to let it show too much but he was quite restless thanks to that. He had so much to do, maybe too much even. At the same time, he had several other people writing as well, producers who were telling him how to direct certain scenes... He didn't know how much he liked that but he got that it was also part of the game. Having some people he knew already working with him helped. Casey had little control over things but at least he had someone he could feel may be a bit more on his side.
Changing the pace of the shoot for the day was hectic but Akeem was glad they got over it without too much incident. He had people who were in this industry for a while working with him too, who know how to deal with that sort of thing. He happily relied on their experience but he was also hoping it would not come back and bite later when he would have demands and they will find him too green to order them around. He wondered if people would like the duo he made together with Casey. They had worked before and he thought it created a chemistry that, hopefully, showed on screen. He really hoped he'd be able to get the show going the length he initally planned. He had three full seasons written for this show but had to cut short after just one. He hoped the same thing would not happen again.
"Thanks for today," he told her as they were done filming. It might have been crazier for him and the crew but it couldn't have been easy for the cast either. And Casey just agreed to go with it, whatever they would do for today. They might not have been able to film everything they wanted but they couldn't help it. They were not done filming anyway, so they shouldn't have gone too much over the budget on this one. They just switched things. "Are you busy after? You want to go eat something? I promise, it doesn't have to be at my parents' restaurant again," he asked with a laugh, as it seemed to be the place where they met so often and ate together in the past.

Casey was slowly getting back on the route of acting for sure, and accepting the role in Akeem’s show made it also more bearable for her too. It might be silly because she was labeled as a grand actress of her time but she grew more insecure with all the events that happened to her in the past years. She was trying to move on and keeping her head busy was helping her to do that. She preferred letting her brain be surrounded by lines of a script than being worried and constantly insecure. She did believe that she was doing better and it was thanks to everyone that was close to her.
She went along with what they had planned for the day, adjusting to it quite well as it was more routine to her than it was to Akeem. She could tell that he was getting stressed by it. She couldn’t blame him though since it was the first time he was doing something as big. She couldn’t remember how it felt to her back then hence she was so young when she started but she liked being on a set for sure.
She was getting ready to leave when Akeem thanked her and she smiled at him. “No problems, I’m used to it.” She said referring to the being on stage part. She checked on her phone through her schedule to see if it was free and shook her head. “I’m free and I wouldn’t mind, actually, your parents are sweet.” She said as she remembered them.

It was true that actors had to adapt sometimes very quickly to the whims of many people in the production department. Still, some showed more resistance to it than others and got mad at it. She did practice for certain scenes they couldn't shoot in the end. But she managed to remember the lines for those others well and they got good material. For once, Akeem left the editing to others. He would dabble on it a bit for his channel, or at least review it if someone else did it before uploading the videos, but he had enough on his hands as it is. He would see what they made of the footage later.
He laughed as she assured him that his parents were sweet. "That may be so, but there is a limit to the amount of time I can bring a girl with me before they start talking marriage. Who do you think inspired me Zayn's parents?" he joked. Of course, he pushed it for comedy's sake. His parents would be hurt by it otehrwise and ask if he really thought that of them. The parents in his show were good people, but you needed some conflict to make it interesting, and there was no better known formula than parents not being sure of their children's choice in love interest.
She did agree to it though, or at least it was what her words implied. "I've still got some stuff to finish but how about in an hour at the Aquarius?" he knew the palce wasn't too far and the view was nice with the beach and the water. Plus, they didn't just have fish, if that wasn't her thing. He knew it was quick but good and wholesome food in there so he thought it was a good idea. And he figured she might know the place.

Casey knew how to do her job and wanted to go easy on Akeem too since it was his first time on the set and all. She didn’t complain and waited for the instructions. The rest of the day went without any damages and she was ready to head back home when he came to her and invited her to a restaurant. Normally she would have pushed away invitations but she was feeling better about herself and the loss even if it was still sometimes lurking in the back of her mind. She smiled a bit as he talked of his parents and how they would demand marriage. She certainly wasn’t ready to talk of that. It scared her a little but she simply managed to somehow brush it off. “I’m lucky my dads aren’t like that.” She said in response.
“Sounds like a plan I should be there on time.” She assured him with a nod. “See you later then.” She added with a small wave before she headed out of the building to get home quickly so she could get herself ready for the evening out. It would certainly be a nice change of pace for her. She still had her doubts but at least Frank would reassure her on the matter later on if she felt the need to call him.
