Casey was interested in the show and the suggestion. Being part of his show would give her more visibility and it wouldn’t be as stressful as taking several contracts at once. If she stuck with only a couple of shows at once it would be a good way for her to start to get her career back on track. She nodded at what he said and smiled at him. “That does sound like an interesting suggestion.” She agreed with him. She didn’t mind the role that he would give her but she enjoyed acting and it had worked out well to do so with him in their other show so she didn’t see why it couldn’t work out.
She smiled at Akeem as he explained to her the next steps he wanted to take with the show he was writing. “I’m sure we’ll be able to arrange something, just let me know if my agent is being a prick,” She said teasingly because she knew that he would want to deal her career sometimes but most of the time he listened to her wishes and she liked that.
“Just contact me when you get everything settled and we’ll plan everything in order to make it work.”

Akeem could appear on several shows in a year, but that was only because he had but small roles. He was lucky when his character lasted more than one episode. He didn't get a whole lot of important roles but he got how difficult it would be if he had to play leading roles in several shows at once. Even recurrent roles would be difficult, with all the logistics in doing two shows at the same time, and the lines. In a way, he did that, with his channel and all the work he put in it not only as an actor but also as a script writer and a director. Still, it was not the same, as he was not as pushed with specific deadlines like a television show was.
There was also the fact that she was coming back and it might not be a good idea to put too much on her shoulders at once. He didn't want to do that to her. He already had one actress walking out on him for that role, he didn't want that to happen again.
He chuckled softly about her agent. Acting behind that person's back would be kind of cruel but sometimes you wanted to do a passion project, even if that meant gaining a little less. Agents only saw it as a way for future casting directors to use this as an excuse for offering less.
He nodded before grabbing his cup, offering a toast. "To this new adventure." And he made sure to ignore his father and all of the other cooks and people working in the kitchen who may be listening to them right now.

Casey didn’t have anything against her agent but she was interested into working with Akeem again and not to be his girlfriend. It was rare to click with a co-worker that easily and if it meant that she would have a good friendship, then let it be and if it was going to meant more then let it be too, she just didn’t want to rush herself into anything. Of course, it’s not like they could push her into something she didn’t want to as so far, Akeem seemed to have respected her privacy and didn’t ask her questions that were too personal. She appreciated it and it was going to be the start of a friendship.
“To this new adventure.” She said back to him as she smiled and lifted her glass to cheer for him. It was big and she knew it. She was surprised that he didn’t celebrate with his friend and thought she wouldn’t stick around for too long to let him celebrate with his family. Hers was just as important and no one usually bugged her when she was seeing her fathers so she would do the same with him.
Besides, having another main role would keep her distracted as she always tended to work hard. She’d of course make sure to plug her other vocals.

Akeem was not trying to flirt with Casey. He was far too excited about his TV show to think of anything else and if he flirted with her, it was unconsciously. He was interested in having her on the show because he worked with her and knew what she could do. Plus it could be nice and draw audience. There were just so many things to think about however. The ‘pilot’ per se had been the episode on his channel but he now had to make them from scratch. He was hoping to work with the ones who’d star in it, and not just as actors/director. The people he talked to seemed inclined to that sort of show, he hoped it would work out in the end. He didn’t know how much of a contribution other than as an actress Casey could give but he didn’t mind putting her as the ‘muse’ for the show.
In a way, he was glad she didn’t start asking him if that show was anything like something he lived. A Muslim guy dating a non-Muslim girl... sure, he did that before, but it was not like his family was overly religious. His father was certainly not traditional. You just had to look at his blonde, very American, wife to tell.
He took a sip of the wine after the toast. “You’ve no idea how I try to look normal right now. I just want to jump and scream out in joy, I can barely contain it,” he admitted with a laugh. She must have seen, as he was sure he had been smiling a lot. “And not just because I won’t spend months jobless before getting a new gig, although that’s nice too. The work of an actor can be really weird sometimes. And, of course, celebrating with you and sharing this.”

Casey was really happy to know that Akeem might want her to star in his show. After all, she had only gotten back to acting not so long ago and she enjoyed it. She had been on the singing scene too but she wanted to take it easy and do one thing at a time, just like she was getting back with this show. It showed her that she truly missed acting and enjoyed it a lot. She did make a lot of friends too out there and now she was celebrating with Akeem for getting his TV show.
She looked at him with amused eyes as he admitted to her that he only wanted to celebrate. “You can do it if you want; I promise I won’t tweet about it or post a video on Youtube.” She added teasingly. It was true though, she wasn’t going to tease him for wanting to celebrate knowing how she could be when she got the roles she wanted. “You should have seen me when I got my first Broadway role.” She said with a laugh, thank God her fathers didn’t post anything too embarrassing on the social medias. She was happy for him and hoped that his show would air for more than a season. She was game to act in it if she was able to.

He laughed as she mentioned YouTube. "No, that would be more my area of expertise, right? And I'll do it eventually, but I don't think I'll speak too much about this for now. Don't want to sell it before it's certain that it'll air." Anyway, she had to have gone through this too, fighting to get a role or a pet project going and the rush of joy and adrenaline when it happened. She precisely mentioned it, talking about her first Broadway role.
It didn't end with the good news too, with Casey saying that she was up to play in his show should that happen. He thought she could be a great replacement in that role, and she would bring some star power, because he didn't know how much his own face would attract audience. But the difference was the most important in here, as the whole love story was about this.
He caught his father's gaze as the man looked in their direction. His own eyes narrowed. What was the man thinking? He refilled Casey's glass as well as his. He wasn't used to drink much, especially not wine, but this was a special occasion that required something special. "Will there be a problem with your current show though? Or your agent, if you've got other things scheduled?" He didn't even know if they would be able to afford someone like her, or if they'd allow it. But he was hoping for it. And, at the same time, hoping that his father would stop looking at them with that smirk on his face!

Casey smiled and nodded agreeing with him. Akeem was the one who started with Youtube. She could understand that not everyone had the same situation as hers; two fathers who were famous. She didn’t hide the fact that it was easier to get in the industry when you already had known parents in the business. “I don’t blame you for it, it’s something big for you and don’t worry, I’m not going to sell it either.” She said, she was making a promise here. She knew how you could easily go down in the business as well. Not that she went there but it was hard to get back to it sometimes. She tried not to think much of her past lover though it was easier nowadays than it was used to before and she was glad of it. Maybe Franck was right, maybe she was ready to see other people now.
She didn’t pay much attention to what was going on there, or the glances that they were sharing between each other, Akeem and his parents. She was used to attracting attention either she liked it or not wherever she got. She thanked him when he served them.
“I don’t think it would be too much with the current schedule I have.” She told him. “I’m focusing on acting for now and the show we had is my only role for now. I think we can make it work.” She added with a nod. She was confident and could easily talk into her agent about it.

Akeem did understand how YouTube forced the industry to change how to make content and where to deliver it. Just anyone can post on there and be a sensation overnight. Wasn't it how Justin Bieber became known? And how many YouTubers were very popular influencers? He did feel ever so grateful that his cahnnel worked so well and he would have been happy just to keep uploading there with a company allowing them to buy more stuff, get greater sets and hire some more talents, but he got this instead, and it was just as great. After all, it was also his job and he'll finally get the chance to prove that what he could do on his small channel, he could do on a bigger scale. It was daunting but he was up for the challenge. Had he not been, he never would have done this job in the first place.
He smiled, grateful at her. She was not one of those celebrities with a big head. She was really sweet. Akeem had met of all kinds and it was nice to not deal with a tough one for a change. "One step at a time, is it?" he added as she explained her situation. Then again, he was sure she grew up quite loaded. He couldn't blame her for this, he was the same. Maybe his parents had a bit less money than hers, but they were definitely not poor. "I'll make sure to mention your name then, see how it goes." How nice to start a show and be able to tell them a famous name was up to take place in it!
"Did you come here by yourself?" He asked out of the blue. He pointed at the glass. "I meant, I don't know if it would be reasonable to let you drive after this evening. The meal is good but that's a lot of alcohol." He did weigh the bottle as he poured the wine for them, it was nearly empty.

Casey didn’t have an ego as she worked hard to get where she was despite having famous parents. All that helped was that she got roles faster than others because they knew of her parents’ work. That didn’t mean she didn’t need to prove herself. She wanted to make sure that they know about her and the fact that she worked just as hard as anyone else and she didn’t have a lazy schedule. She worked from early morning to late at night either it was for training, practicing her lines or simply working and doing some stuff in public for her fans.
She nodded at him, smiling. “Indeed and once people recognize your hard work, it does feel good.” She admitted. She knew that there were some who simply thought that everything should be given to them but not her as she was forced to go back to reality when her boyfriend died. She stared at her cup for a few moments and then smiled at Akeem. It was unfair for him as it was his moment for her to think of that. “Sure, as I said, I’d be happy to take on that role.” She said to him honestly.
She nodded once again at his question. “I have, looks like I’ll have to call a cab.” She didn’t want to cause another car crash. “I trust you’ll take care of my car.” She said teasingly.

If Akeem was eve to say Casey had an advantage on others, it was because she had people around her who can explain the industry to her. That was nothing you couldn't pick by yourself. As for an advantage over him, it had more to do with their race. He was not too bitter about it, he was still able to get jobs, but he knew that diversity was not always something shows and movies were good at. He understood, since the majority was white after all. He was more annoyed when he played a stereotype than seeing someone in a role that could have been handed over to a person of color instead. Besides, he won today, and he was not going to let his past hardships and making a name for himself darken his accomplishment.
"It sure is. It's weird, being recognized. And humbling. You'd think it would have the opposite effect, but it is." At least it was to him, since it was rare that it occured and it took hard work to get there. Oddly enough, he was more known for his work on his channel than on television. Maybe it will finally change.
He laughed as she brought up her car. Was she thinking he suggested anything more than her using a cab and said it like that to set her boundaries. "Of course. That's what I meant too. That or a friend picking you and your car, I just meant to say it wouldn't be responsible to let you drive. Or myself for that matter, I guess." he said as he picked up his glass. He did drink a lot too after all. But he was not driving so he was fine. He could easily call a cab for himself or wait until they closed the restaurant and had his parents take him home. He had more options than her here, it was why he asked.

Casey smiled at Akeem, aware of what they had to go through. She didn’t think that people like him, who had a Youtube channel were a treat to their industry. Quite the contrary, they had ideas too and it just helped them to get the attention to deserve if their ideas were indeed good ones or if they sucked, you’d know right away and change before making a fool of yourself and be laughed at by producers as they were looking for new people and show ideas. “It is, and I don’t think you ever get used to it. Everything you do is judged, you don’t get much of private life unless you’re at home.” She said to him but they knew that it was how it worked.
She smiled and nodded, chuckling a little and taking a sip of the wine that Akeem served to her. “Thank you, and I promise that she is a good girl.” She added to show him that she teased him. “Don’t worry, I’m not an irresponsible driver, I’d never do that.” Besides, it was what killed her boyfriend and she was very touched by events like this. Not that her boyfriend was drunk but the other driver was and look at where he was now. Buried.
She stopped thinking of that and took another sip before she finished eating her meal. “You can tell your father my compliments, he really is a good chief.” She said. His food was certainly good if you wanted to eat your emotions.

"Oh for that, I don't have too much of a problem," he pointed out a she talkedof the lack of private life. It was true that people knew a lot more about them than other people and it was weird when you could have them talk of personal stuff to you. Heck, he was still surprised when he got them telling him happy birthday! "But it is weird to have them come up to you and say they like what you're doing." That was when you realised you were not doing a normal job. And when they asked for an autograph or a picture, it was even weirder. Pleasant, but weird.
He laughed as she talked of her car in such a manner. He didn't think about the fact her boyfriend died in such a manner, in fact he completely forgot about it at the moment and cared only about her. It wasn't even just having paparazzi getting pictures of her in that state, it could be dangerous for her. "I wasn't implying it," he assured as she said she was not that irresponsible.
He smiled as she complimented his father. "You can tell him yourself," he pointed out, gesturing at the man. True, he was busy managing the kitchen and making sure all plates were perfect before leaving here for the restaurant, but she could tell him herself if she wanted to. Unless it was her cue to say she wanted to leave. Come to think of it, she'll want that, right? He should be grateful she even wanted to be here for so long in the first place.

Casey nodded at him, glad that he was taking it that way. Not everyone was ready to have their lives exposed in such a way but she had always lived that way and was used to it since her parents, and even her two fathers were famous so she had always been in the spotlight and didn’t want to get away from it. She had for a few moments and regretted it as she was addicted to it now. Though, being famous wasn’t always jolly since the pressure was often hard on people who decided to end their lives earlier than they should.
“I know.” She said to him softly with a smile and she often forgot that she could simply go and talk to people. Often they were intimidated by her because of her fame but she was a normal person deep down and laughed a bit. “That’s true! I never had the chance to tell him so.” She stood up and went towards the older man, complimenting his cooking and saying that none of her parents had his talent, saying that Akeem was very lucky but she too in a way since their job required her to be thin even if it was silly sometimes. She just never starved herself because she didn’t believe in that. She was Jewish after all and didn’t care of what people usually thought of her. She didn’t say it to him because she wanted to leave though, she really felt comfortable here as it was cozy and it reminded her of her time with her dads.

Akeem let Casey go on her own. He wasn't far anyway and he was certain that his father would make sure she wouldn't be in anyone's way or risked anything. All sorts of accidents could happen in a kitchen after all. He wasn't as good a cook as his father, by far. If he helped at the restaurant it was either to place people, clean tables or serve, whichever they needed help with the most. Sometimes he did help washing the dishes, that was all of his contribution in that kitchen.
Because of that, he didn't hear what she said to his father, nor that the man thanked her and also talked of his son a bit, thanking her for helping Akeem's dream coming true by accepting to appear in his show and hoping it comes through and that it becomes a success. Instead, Akeem took this time to call a cab for her. He could stay here a little longer, maybe leave to be with his mother, to not disturb people more than necessary in the kitchen. As long as they did not imply anything about him and Casey.
"I called you a cab. It shouldn't take too long for it to come over," he told her as she came back to their table. He thought it was the least he could do when she not only came to celebrate with him but brought a bottle too. He thought it was funny. He just finished a role where he played her boyfriend and was about to start another one where he'd be her boyfriend. It looks like they were meant to play those roles on screen. But he didn't want to think about this. It was hard, because he was a bit drunk after all and it made it hard to make any clearer thought at the moment. He wouldn't be working on scripts tonight for sure.

Casey didn’t mind to talk to people; she had it in her thanks to her parents and her fathers always gave her tricks to how to approach them and what not so she could sell whatever TV show she was on. It didn’t mean she couldn’t use it to talk to others too, just like she was doing with Akeem’s father and she smiled at the man while making sure there was enough room in the kitchen for the others to move around and not to be disturbed by her. She smiled as the man talked of Akeem, he did sound proud of him and she couldn’t blame him. Her fathers were probably proud of her achievements too and she believed in his show too knowing that it was an atypical relationship that Akeem was talking about. Wasn’t she part of one? She went through a lot from her parents divorcing and her father finding out that he was homosexual and living happily with his husband. Didn’t mean she wasn’t happy with hers but she could tell that their parents were close to Akeem.
When they were done talking, she thanked the man once again and made sure that she wasn’t a bother to them as she didn’t like to use her fame to get free food or free whatever she could have. She smiled when she went back to Akeem and nodded as he told her that he had called for a cab. “Thank you, that’s sweet.” She let out. She could have done it herself but she thought that it was a nice gesture. She did think about how funny it was to know that she might be his on stage girlfriend again but she didn’t mind it; he wasn’t a bad kisser after all! Wait, why was she thinking of that now?
