LAFFONT, FRANÇOIS
Character's full name: François Guillaume Laffont Nicknames: Franck (he has been credited sometimes as Franck Laffont) Age: Twenty-three (June 6) Talents: actor (he can also dance, well enough to go far in a Dancing With The Stars competition but not to the point of making a career.) Orientation: Homosexual (he is not ashamed of it but does not talk about it.) Play by: Brant Daugherty
Appearance: Franck stood up at six feet one inch. Without being very muscular, it is obvious that he trains and does everything it needs to stay in good shape. His favorite sports being ski, swimming, running and dancing, his muscles do not show a lot but his lean silhouette remains appealing to the eye. He’s also got strong and long legs. His eyes are of a deep blue hue and are very expressive. His eyebrows might be a bit thick, it had been considered in the past that he should trim them, but that had grown to be yet another feature of his that people recognize him by. Besides, he never thought that were that thick. He’s got dark brown hair that he always keep well combed. He always has a smile on his face (or almost always has).
Franck takes good care of his appearance. He makes sure to look good. This also reflects in the clothes he wears. He knows fashion and it shows with the pieces he chooses and how he mixes them together. He likes comfort too and will never pick something he cannot move well in but he’ll also make sure the colors and patterns are nice on him and together. He is a bit concerned with money so he isn’t spending fortune in fashion. If he finds something appealing but considers it too expensive, he won’t think that he has the means to pay but find a cheaper version of it instead.
Personality: Franck is positive to a fault. He’s a glass half-full kind of guy. He’ll always try to look happy, even when he isn’t. This is why you’ll always see him with a smile on his face, even more when he’s sad. Eventually, it convinces him that things are good. He likes to consider himself more of a listener, hearing people’s problems and helping them out as opposed to talking about everything going on in his life, but it’s not entirely true. While he would always make sure to be there for someone in need and listen to them when they feel down, he has this need to share as well and can often end up doing so, despite telling first that he didn’t come here to do that. He still remains more in the ‘listener’ category. He is a diplomat who’ll try to find solutions to everyone’s problems.
He might even try to help a little bit too much. While he knows his worth, he’ll put others before himself. He is very loyal and can come out as naive. He is, but not for the reasons people think. He can tell at times that he is being manipulated but he also often lets it happen. If he is naive, it’s in his way of seeing life, focusing on the best, dreaming of some happy ending for him and hopefully everyone else. He is a nice guy. So sweet he’d give you cavities if you stand too close of him. He’s hurt when he is being turned down but understands. That won’t change the fact he might worry for you and still try to do something, if he can.
Franck can be a bit of a drama queen. If hurt too much, he can become bitchy. The same can be said with alcohol, as he tends to say things more bluntly than he would normally say them. He’ll always regret it later but it happens. Pain or fear can also make him look a bit paranoid. He’ll be overly dramatic. Happiness can also make him look like a drama queen though. When he loves, it’s fully, never just a little. And he falls in love fast. When that happens, he’s ready to give the guy everything and generally ends up hurt because he’s being turned down. Because Franck is terrible at picking his lovers. First, he must have been away when life distributed gaydars. He is terrible at telling who is gay, straight or bi. Secondly, he’ll always pick the worse choice possible for him. Guys too loud, jealous ones, those who are only looking for a fling or, worse, has already someone. While he pretends it’s alright and never blames the other, it hurt him a little more each time it happens, to the point that despite being only twenty-three, he’s often wondered if life has someone perfect for everyone except for him. Loneliness can easily make him depressive and complain that he wants someone too. He is not the kind to sleep with someone just to sleep with someone though. He needs an emotional connection. But he has found that it can help when he is in that mood. He generally doesn't take a stranger though, he isn't able to do that, but goes for a friend or at least an acquaintance. Unless that person already knows why they did it however, he tends to try and justify his actions and puts all the blame on him for it.
He is a scaredy cat. He jumps easily when caught by surprises and has nightmares after seeing horror movies. He’s also afraid of storms. Thunder is the worst but just strong wind hitting windows hard makes him a bit on edge. He prefers to use words over his fists no matter the situation. He also hates seeing people he likes involved in a fight. He is not afraid to goof around when he is amongst friends. But he is usually more serious with people he doesn't know too well. He's also more of a follower than a leader. He doesn't hide his feelings very well. It's easy to know when he likes someone as he'll always be physically closer to them. He is a hugger and can be sometimes a little too tactile.
Likes: Dancing, playful music, going out with friends, being around people, helping, salty caramels, French macaroons, French cuisine in general, fashion, his family, shopping, wine
Dislikes: Aggressive music, prejudice, storms, snails, beer, horror and gore, hearing French words said incorrectly, fanatism (whether it's religious or over a celebrity), politics, sour food , improvisation
History: You might wonder what a little French boy is doing so far from his hometown. Franck was born in the county of Bourgogne in France but lived his first years of life in Paris. Not that he remembers much of it. At four, his father who worked for a multinational company was sent to LA since he was the most qualified, and spoke English fluently. If that could be said of Simon Laffont, it couldn’t be more different for Adeline Perrault who really didn’t like this change but came along with her husband. And that is how François became Franck. It was not easy learning a new language and he had been mocked quite a few times in the past because of his name and his accent. Over the years, he toned it down a lot. You can still hear a little something but it just makes him special.
Because of her struggle with the language, Franck’s mother stayed at home. And she took care of her little boy. Franck has fond memories of his youth. It’s ironic that he became an actor when he barely watched any television as a kid. His mother favored other activities that usually involved being outside and playing with other kids. He was ten when an ad claimed they were looking for young boys, between ten and twelve, to play a part in a television show. No detail were really given about the show but the description of what they were looking for matched Franck and Adeline thought it could be funny. They boy sometimes acted, for fun. It might be nice. And he was rather interested in it too. Franck got the part. It was a sitcom about a family and he played their son’s best friend. It was not a big role but he played in more than one episode. That could have been the start of his career but his mother wanted him to focus on his studies and he had always been an obedient boy.
About two years later though, he asked his mother if he could do that again, so long as it does not affect his grades. Since it also occupied her time, she was fine with it. As for his father, he thought that so long as his wife was there to make sure things were ok, there should not be any problem. It took some time though to get something. A lot of kids want to be famous around these parts. And when your mother doesn’t want you to play in a horror and/or violent project, or that talked of homosexuality like it was nothing at all, it was even harder. The world is fixated on vampires and zombies after all.
He was thirteen when he kissed for the first time. Not on screen, thank goodness, but his partner was not to the taste of his mother. His name was Jeremy. Would have been better had he been called Jennifer. Franck managed to explain that he kissed him only to know the feeling and so that, when he’d kiss a girl for real, he wouldn’t fail miserable and kiss her eye or something. It died down and luckily, the next one to catch him kissing a guy was his father four years later. It was a luck, since they also happened to be shirtless on his bed when that happened. His father was fine with his son’s homosexuality but they both knew what his mother would say. After that, Franck had always been very careful not to bring any boy at home, just in case. He just wished his mother would stop consider any girl friend he’d invite as his potential lover.
Franck’s breakthrough happened at nineteen. He landed a role in a teen romance movie. He picked it for the war back story. He got famous because of his pretty face and the love scenes with his co-star (a girl). After that, he only received scripts for movies similar and turned down a few but he still ended up playing in two more like this. It made him rather popular. Too popular. His mother could no longer take it. The fanmail, the girls trying to get his attention whenever he was out... she was going crazy. To the point she needed to kick him out. She yelled at him that she wished she had never brought him to this audition ten years ago. It was to the point she was almost wishing he was never even born. It affected him greatly and he left the house. He took a year not working at all, trying to consider what he’d like to do instead, figuring that when the frenzy would be over, things would be better. He’s currently studying at college psychology (you always need a backup plan) while still acting.
---- Name/Alias: Bobby Map: Say RP Sample: Franck told the boys he had a special gift for their birthday. In fact, it was something for the three of them. Since their birthday was merely two days after his, it made sense to have a little something just for the three of them. No other friends of Franck would be there and he was not inviting any of the twins’ ‘toys’. Just them. Even his father, who was still driving them, would not accompany them. After their fight and everything that had happened, Franck thought they could use that. It would be a nice way of showing them he was not going to just betray them in any way and that he still very much wanted to be around them.
He had everything planned. He was taking them to the fairground and meant to spend the whole day there with them. Which was why he had picked them up relatively early, especially for a Sunday morning. He wanted them to arrive at the opening, knowing how quickly the place could get crowded. I tried to keep that a surprise but whether or not the twins found out he still liked his idea. The boys ought to love something where they could go on all sorts of rides and just be out of the school, right? And if they were still sleepy, he was ready to keep them awake. Especially one of them. Well... he would behave, just because his father happened to be in the car. It was hard for Franck however to be this close of Jasper and not want to do anything. But he had yet explained exactly what they were to each other to his father. Not that the man was oblivious to the point of not seeing his son must be dating someone and with the twins in the car, he had to think one of them was the lucky one, if he did not fear it was both of them, but never really told him directly. And his father was not the kind to ask questions about it with the twins around. He might even wait for Franck to talk to him. In the car, he left them to their conversation and their music. If he heard everything, he tried his best not to care about it.
“So, does that make it up for waking up early?” Franck asked them as they were at the fairground now. His father said something about waiting his son’s phone call to pick them up but that they had to remember it was no fifteen minutes ride. Franck waved him goodbye and wrapped his arms around the twins’ shoulders with a wide grin on his face. This was a beautiful day and nothing can ruin it. “Happy birthday.”
