A few years ago...Jerry knew this wasn't his party but he could pretend that it was. He was at the top of world right now, or at least certainly felt the same euphoria someone who reached such great heights would feel. His band got a pretty strong debut. Everyone was pumped, of course. It called for celebration. It was why they went to this select club, to properly enjoy the fruits of their labor and getting more motivation to keep going for what will follow.
The place wouldn't play their music but he didn't care. What was playing was nice. And there were a lot of interesting people around. Lots of them were dancing but there were also plenty at tabes, enjoying themselves. And, no doubt, rubbing elbows with other up-and-coming celebrities like what Jerry now was. Well, he figured he was. Or would be. ell, in his head, they already were, have been for a long time! People were just starting to realise it, is all. Jerry would always walk around life with such confidence.
He had just gotten himself a new drink and was turning around when he stopped, having noticed someone. He could only see her profile but she caught her attention. There were plenty of pretty women around tonight, and some might think she was not the prettiest, but she was to him. Or at least there was something about her that caught his eye. Maybe he was still rolling on his euphoria, or maybe he just couldn't do anything else but be bold and direct, but he walked towards her table. She was not alone, but the other person was another woman, Jerry thought it was worth trying his chance. He had no idea what he would say, but he had to go.
"Ladies. Sorry if I appear bold, but I was wondering if I could offer you a drink?" Which one of the two was the prettiest? One thing for sure, Jerry had only eyes for the pretty red-head. He forced himself to look at the other one too. "I'm just in too good of a mood tonight, I wanted to share it around and you immediately appeared to me like the ones I wanted to share it with."
He had no idethat he might have seen them before, at least one of them. All he knew was that he had to get the attention of this pretty girl and, luckily, her phone number. And a date. He was in a happy mood, as he said, nothing could stop him right now.

The friend Sarah was with was the one who convinced her to come to this place so they could unwind a little. She normally wouldn’t go to those soirées unless they were related to the show or movie she was starring for and for modeling gigs. She didn’t do those as often as her mother did though but she would on a few occasions accept a few contracts as it helped suffice for her needs in Hollywood. They were starring in the same show that would air in a few months or so and her friend decided they should have a few drinks to celebrate the end of the week.
They were talking of their plans for the weekend. She was probably going to take it easy and spend time with her family. She missed them but filming sometimes required sacrifices she was willing to make to get it to work. All to say that she was at the party enjoying the conversation they were having together and laughing a bit until they were interrupted by a big and much taller man than she obviously was showing up at their table. It was quite bold indeed, she didn’t remember who he was but his face was familiar. Where had she seen him before? Their line of work required them meeting with a lot of people in the long run it would get confusing. They looked at each other and nodded. Why not? He seemed friendly though her shy nature felt herself observed and the attention intimidated her a bit.
Ah, he ought to be here to celebrate something. She thought after she looked back at him. “Sure, are you celebrating something?” She asked him trying to be as casual as she could. No need to show to stranger how much of a nervous wreck she could be!

Maybe Jerry should have returned to his group of friends, but he was certain they could manage on their own. There was nothing wrong in what he was doing. He would have been the first amused if he saw any of them doing the same thing, and he would have left them alone, only to ask how it went the next time they were to meet in case they did not return that evening. So he was going to do just that himself.
He tried to gauge which one of them would put the biggest defense against having him around. It seemed like he was off to a good start. They agreed to let him pay them a drink, to which he was quick to gesture someone so they could get more of whatever they were having. Then her friend asked if what he meant was that they looked like the ones who needed his happiness the most. He took it as a taunt that he refused to fall for. "Far from it. I just looked around and thought, it has to be them," he replied. He wondered how much she liked to banter and if he would be caught in a constant back and forth with her like this. Because his attention was on the other one.
The red head spoke and it gave him the opportunity to look at her once again with a bright smile. "You could say that I am," he answered, not extending on it. It wasn't that he was trying to sound mysterious, he just wanted to focus on her. "My name's Jerry, by the way." Would be only polite to say after all. "Are you here for a similar reason or are you just enjoying youselves tonight?"

Sarah could tell that her friend was still cautious about that man but Sarah didn’t see anything wrong with him. She could be sociable sometimes. Her friend might have preferred to be spending time only with her but he didn’t seem to be of unpleasant company so she could manage with him. She let her friend talk to him a bit and didn’t say anything for now. She was curious to see where this would go. She could tell that he had a charming smile and personality. He looked like he was celebrating something, it was why she asked.
She nodded when he admitted that he was. She started wondering where she had seen him if she did. She couldn’t shake the feeling that they knew each other from somewhere and part of her wanted to know even if she wasn’t the most sociable of the group right now. Jerry. “I’m Sarah.” She said to him. He was kind to give them a drink she could at least present herself in a decent and polite way.
“We just happened to come here to unwind so we can’t exactly tell.” Said the friend. Sarah didn’t know why but her friend sounded protective. Alright, she might look like a scared animal at times but she wasn’t now, wasn’t she?

Luckily for Jerry, he was a very optimistic and sociable person. He used that to give the best impression possible to the two ladies. He didn't want to completely ignore her friend, as he didn't want her to go against him being here, but he definitely had his eyes on one of them in particular. She seemed more quiet though, or perhaps the other wanted to protect her by not letting him talk to her.
Well, he at least got her name. "Nice to meet you Sarah," he said, waiting for her friend to give her name as well to greet her in a similar way. Unlike her, he didn't think he knew her. Wouldn't he have gone for her before otherwise? He couldn't say he knew any Sarah, at least none that looked like her. But he wanted to know her, that was for sure.
He was forced to stare back at her friend. No matter how much he was talking to Sarah, she seemed to be the one answering. Well, if he had to smooth things out with her a bit, he would. He just hoped Sarah wouldn't think that meant he was interested in her friend more. "It is a nice place. What do you have to unwind from?" Not the best way to ask for their job but if they happened to do the same thing, perhaps he could try and get Sarah back into the conversation and make it clear his interest was on her.

Sarah might not be one of the most sociable person, but she could tell that her friend was being a bit overprotective there. She needed to say or do something that would ease things down a little. She didn't think that the boy was a dangerous person and quite on the contrary, he seemed very nice so she wasn't against having a small talk with him either. She was obviously, clueless of the idea that he might just be flirting with her and find her interesting. She did get that he wanted to talk to her and not just her friend. She sat in a better position so she could hear him out whenever he wanted to talk. She smiled at him when he talked to her. "Likewise, and you are...?" She asked him back, curious for his name too. Seeing that Sarah was open for a bit more of a chat, her friend calmed down a bit and introduced herself too as Kristina.
"We just finished a long week of filming so we decided to come here." Said her friend which Sarah nodded to. "She is the one who convinced me to come." Admitted Sarah, she doubted he'd be interested in that sort of detail but since they were having a small conversation best was to keep it going on. "I am not upset she dragged me here." She added with a smile as she looked at her friend. She preferred hanging around with people who had a good vibe, and this man there seemed to have some as well. She decided she could talk to him a little too.

Jerry wondered if she was did not hear him before, for he was certain he told his name first. He chose to believe that rather than the idea she may be pushing him away by dismissing what he said. After all, she responded to him without giving him that impression the rest of the time. If anything, he'd argue it may be her friend who would do that. Unless he managed to get him on his side too. "Jeremy, but Jerry is fine." He greeted Kristina in a similar way he did Sarah when she introduced herself.
Kristina explained what they may be celebrating. It was more enjoying their break after a week of hard work. But the work piqued his interest. "Filming? Are you ladies actresses?" To be fair, he could probably throw a stone in this place and he would have 9 chances out of 10 to hit an aspiring actress or singer or anything similar. They flocked around here, it was Hollywood after all. Wasn't he the same himself?
Sarah made it sound like she might have preferred to stay home, or was at least the type to not go out much without the company of a more outgoing friend like Kristina. It was something to keep in mind. "Well, I'm glad she did too then."
He paid attention to how much remained in whatever drink they may have. "Can I offer you a drink?" he asked the two of them. He was hoping he could stay with them and he figured he might have a better chance if they were all drinking together that they would also be willing to talk to him.

Sarah got slightly interested in Jerry and wondered what his last name was. Now that she had looked at him more properly he did sound familiar. She wondered where she had seen him and what he was doing with his life. It was why she asked for his name again. “Sorry, I mean, what’s your last name? You look familiar.” She said when Kristina nodded back at him. She seemed less defensive around Sarah now that she could tell that she was willing to speak more with this man.
They both nodded when they asked if they were actresses. “Yes, we are.” She said with a smile. She didn’t bother herself adding that she was modeling as well. She wasn’t the kind of person who would tell all the information about her life to someone she barely met. She was very reserved and also very anxious in general. However, the fact her friend was there with her did help her to ease down a little. Perhaps Jerry, as he called himself, didn’t see it that way but her friend was protective of her knowing how she could be at times.
She gave him a soft smile when he admitted he was glad she came and wondered if her friend was willing to have him around a bit more. “Sure.” She said. Besides, he still had to tell her what his job was, it might help her figure out where on earth she had seen him.

Sarah corrected what she said, explained she meant his last name. She implied he looked familiar. Did she follow his band? It was possible, and he would assume the drummer was not necessarily the one who was the most noticed then. Then again, if only based off skin color, he might stand out a little. And if that wasn't it, he figured his full name would jog her memory if she indeed had any of him. "It's Godolphin." How often would one hear a name like that? Then again, it was Hollywood, there were probably a few that changed their names for something they felt would be more memorable. That was why he looked at Kristina and added. "Always been my name, I swear."
He shouldn't be surprised that they were actresses. Half of the people here had to be. Or model. Or musician. In the sense that they appeared in one commercial, served as extra for a tv show or offered a few songs on streaming. But who was going to deny them that title? They were all longing for it, and Jerry was no exception. He didn't want to say too much after this, not wanting to sound like he was perhaps mocking them when that was not his intention.
Since they agreed to a drink, he worked on that instead, making sure the ladies chose whatever they wanted before going with another beer for himself. He didn't want to look cheap, he simply wasn't too much into strong liquors or cocktails. Well, not when he wanted to try and have a conversation. He wanted to keep some wits here.
