Franck had to say it was much needed. When they had their massage earlier, he felt the stress leaving him. He didn’t expect to be this tense but he was, and he knew it was not all because of his work. He had not been very attentive lately. He pulled himself together while in front of the camera but he was not fully there the rest of the time. The fact his studio was close to Charles’ didn’t help. He always made sure to look for his car, hoping not to find it there and Charles even less. He dared not talk to him after the little mishap in his apartment. How silly of him to try and kiss the guy! At the same time, it was not like he downright jumped on him and tried to do more than kiss him, but he was still embarrassed and he preferred not to see him for a while. He had not even talked to him since. The fact he didn’t have his phone number was his excuse, but he knew he had none, since they were living at the same place and all.
He had a sigh of contentment. The massage was done and they were relaxing in recliners with a drink they offered their clients here and a small plate of food placed between them on a small table. He could forget about all of this here. But he was certain he wouldn’t have reacted this way if he had had some company lately. How long had it been since he dated someone? He’d rather not say, it was about as depressing as his friend’s love life, and he didn’t have the same excuse she did.
So, how do you forget about your own disappointing love life? By asking about your friend’s of course! “So, how did it go with Akeem, you saw him again?”

Casey was so glad that they had finally settled a date to go to the spa. She liked going there with Franck because they could talk of their worries and have a good time while trying to relax. It was a pretty hectic life that they were living, here in Los Angeles where you had to be always at your 100% to become famous and where you couldn’t let anyone ruin your image. It was pretty stressful but it was what drove her and she wouldn’t change her job with anyone else.
She was sitting on a sofa that was next to Franck’s and stretched her legs now relaxed from the massage that they had gotten. Whoever invited this was a genius. In their lives, they needed it. It was a great way of relieving your stress and not to worry about anything else. It was like vacation in your own townf and it was nice to think of it.
She took a sip of her hot tea when Franck questioned her about Akeem. « I have, and it was nice. I don’t know where this will go but I think I can see people again without thinking of him too much. » Of course, she meant her last boyfriend when she said that, but it was always hard for her to say his name still. He’d understand, right ?

A part of Franck thought he was acting perhaps a little much like a pampered star by going to spas like this but he couldn't help it, he liked it. He took good care of himself and not only because he considered his body to be his working tool. He loved looking good and couldn't just go out looking disheveled or stressed out. As a result, spas were just that extra little treat he offered himself. Of course, it was so much better to go with a friend. People risked less to come to him for an autograph should they recognize him. He always tried to oblige, and with a smile no less, but it was not really what helped relaxing. Maybe you could argue that talking as much as Casey and himself did had the same effect but he didn't think so. It was a yet another way to relieve some stress, by talking it out. People had no idea how drainging this job can be. Not to add you often felt like you were nothing but a product that belonged to people, and that was not a good way of seeing yourself.
Romance was also soemthing complicated. Those who didn't know this life often didn't understand and ended up mad at your complicated and demanding schedule and those like you had the same kind of schedule making it hard for the two of you to see each other. Still, Franck wished for a romance. He was a big romantic after all. And, in a way, he thought Casey was too. It was why he wanted to hear how it went with Akeem. He didn't know if she tried to date him just yet or even just flirt but he thought it could do her good.
He smiled, happy to hear what she had to say. "That's great news," he exclaimed. It had to be tough moving over her dead lover but she needed to do so. She, after all, was still alive and couldn't pretend otherwise because he was not. "And does he have a chance, or he was just the one who made you understand you could try seeing more people?"

Casey didn’t care about the image she was giving by treating herself at the spa. She needed it and she didn’t think that anyone would blame her to need a massage or two with what happened to her in her young life. She knew that she had been getting the sympathy of a lot of people when that happened and that she wasn’t the only one who was in a dramatic situation and hoped that the image she would give next would be a better one. She had gained respect from a lot of people by working hard to get what she wanted and being a triple treat. She didn’t want it ruined because of a bad impression she gave to others.
She didn’t want to think about that though and smiled a bit when she told the news to Franck that maybe there was a chance for her to be able to love again. He did ask her about Akeem, and if he had a chance with her and shrugged a little at the thought. “I don’t know yet.” She admitted to Franck. Sure, she had started thinking that he was cute and wouldn’t care about who she dated but she still had a few insecurities.

Franck let out a sigh of satisfaction, sinking in his seat. This day felt really good. The massage was great and he couldn't wait for what would come next. People had no idea how exhausting their work could be. You had to wake really early every morning, sometimes even before the sun, the amount of hours varied and you could always lose your job at any moment, when the gig was over or they decided to kill your character off or it was cancelled. Franck didn't find it weird that they could use a day at the spa before starting another project. He knew he was lucky though amongst stars, for he was part of a sitcom, assuring him a nice income, at least until it lasted. As for Casey, she was slowly getting back to business and if there was one thing people loved, it was a comeback.
Franck didn't want to talk of their jobs however. Sure, he was more than happy to hear how things were going for her, but he was more interested in knowing how things were on a more personal level. Casey would still be his friend, even if she no longer was famous. He cared far more about her as a person than a star.
She didn't seem to know just yet however. Franck took a moment to think about what she said. "Do you want to give him a chance? In the end, that's what it is about." He knew he was encouraging her to see more people and date again, but Akeem may not be the one. If so, he didn't want her to feel forced because he pushed her.

Casey liked it there at the spa, being with Franck only meant that they would have a chance to talk more of each other and get news too. While they would spend time outside of their jobs it was rare they were able to truly relax unless they were in vacations. Being at the spa was also a great opportunity to talk to each other even though it was recommended to talk with a low voice, they were in an area where they could actually converse and enjoy the silence when they weren’t talking. The food was a good idea too since having a massage could make you hungry at any moment!
She didn’t know if she wanted to give him a chance but she thought that he was cute. Sure, he wasn’t a Hollywood bomb but he had his own charm and there was this little something that was mysterious about him. Was it because he wasn’t famous yet? And because it gave her the chance to be somewhat normal for a moment? She didn’t know.
“That’s true.” She said with a nod. “I don’t know if we’ll end up together but I like spending time with him even if he’s not used to be with someone as famous as I am.” She admitted.

Franck still didn’t raise his voice as much as he would in a more public space. He understood people were here to relax, they were here for that as well, and that they preferred to do it quietly. Still, he would not just whisper either, but it was true that the silence around them made him want to talk perhaps not as loud as usual, in case someone was listening in the hope of getting some juicy piece of gossip about them. It was horrible to think you had to watch yourself at every time but it was the truth. Someone may very well try to get their phone to take a picture of them and post that they saw them at the spa today. Might not let them write down what they had been talking about too.
Franck was the kind to give chances to people. He didn’t want to push Casey in Akeem’s arms if she was not interested or attracted by him but, should she appreciate him, he thought the man was worth giving a try. Sure, he was not the typical Hollywood heartthrob but he didn’t think Akeem was that unappealing.
He chuckled softly at her words. “Nothing forces you to date him or marry him,” he pointed out. “If you like his company, you should just enjoy it. Time will tell where this will go.” He wished he had a relationship, even one like that where nothing was sure, but it looked like Franck was either trying too hard or not looking at the right place. Well, maybe this new gig, if he gets it, would allow him to meet someone, although he doubted it.

Casey liked being here at spas. It was so much more relaxing than being at work and having to memorize your lines. She knew that she had a sort of lifestyle that not a lot of people would enjoy. She was dedicated to her job and rarely took breaks. Either she was busy practicing dancing or singing, she also was spending a lot of her time at the gym. She might not be picky with food and afraid to take a second portion of dessert but she still had to move and look slim.
She nodded at what Franck said. It was true that she could spend more time with him if she wanted. She didn’t know if she would, but it was an option to consider. She had spent so many time thinking about her last boyfriend and how tragically she had lost him that she might have put a cross on many opportunities.
“Indeed and I don’t want to force a relationship or throw myself into one either.” She admitted. That was the last thing she wanted. She didn’t want to have to worry about that for now. She just was going to move with the flow. She then looked at Franck and wondered about if he had someone in mind yet. “How about you? Have you met anyone interesting?” She knew that he had had trouble finding love, she wished she could do something for him.

If Franck knew how to play the part people gave him in the industry, he had to say he enjoyed being himself here. He didn't think he was all that much different from his public image but he still was, a little. He was less the heartthrob and more the one building up a nest and taking care of you. Except he had no one to build a next for. He could take care of his friends but it was not exactly the same thing, not when they could take care of themselves or already had a special someone to do that.
Without a relationship, he was ready to focus on Casey's possible one. She didn't seem certain it would happen, she was still hesitant in starting a new relationship. "He can also be just a friend. The important part here is whether or not you enjoy being with him, on what level can be determined with time." Franck always meant to take things slowly when meeting with a potential new lover. Then he would ruin it all by falling too fast. Maybe he should be as hesitant as she was for a change.
He had a sad wince at her question. "I'm afraid I killed the last opportunity I got. Or more assumed I had one when it was not the case."

Casey enjoyed spending time with Franck and wished for him to find the right person. She wondered about if he had but didn’t have the time to question him more about it and she wasn’t allowed much to think of that since Franck was the one questioning her about Akeem. He sure was different from the others and she did think it was refreshing. While she knew she was the famous one out of them two she believed that Akeem had what it took to become famous in his own way and she respected that he had his art and was very pointy about it. She liked people like him. However, could she say that she was ready to start a new relationship? She was thinking about it but she didn’t think she had the answer yet.
“That is true.” She said as she gave a smile to Franck. Being here at the spa was doing wonders to both of them. The life of being famous was nerve wrecking and they both needed that well-deserved break.
“You did?” She asked him curiously now wanting more details. She was glad that they were talking about his case too, not that she only wanted the attention for herself or no longer wanted it, she was interested in Franck’s life too. As a friend, of course.

Franck was a listener and he always tried not to treat people differently regardless of their status. His job didn't make him the one who listened too often, but he could be like that with his friends. He was maybe a little more reserved with his personal life, but only to those he didn't completely trust. He trusted Casey and felt he could talk to her. He tried his best to support her and be there for her after her boyfriend's death and he wanted to be there for her too when she'll have to jump back, not only into work but also in life and relationships. This could be pretty daunting. Franck might never have had to deal with the death of a loved one the way she did but he had had his heart broken before. That never stopped him from falling in love again and it was what he wanted to help Casey with.
Now, would it be with Akeem? She seemed to hesitate, but it could also be because she was afraid to flirt and start a relationship again after what happened. It was why he told her she shouldn't worry about this and just enjoy his company if it was what he wanted. "And, you know, if he cannot understand that you need time, then he's not worth it." Then again, in their day and age, you'd think no one needed to be reminded that.
He waved his hand to brush away the matter. He was still slightly embarrassed about it. Very, in fact. He even have been avoiding Charles, if it was not Charles that was avoiding him. "You have it so much easier. It's hard when you must not only try to read the signs to know if he's interested but also if he's into guys to begin with. It was... awkward." He tried to make it sound like it was nothing but he was certain his smile did not look as genuine as it should. He shook his head, trying to laugh it off. "I'm apparently not very good at telling who's gay and who isn't. Or maybe it's at telling when someone is flirting or just being nice."

Casey smiled at Franck’s reassuring words and nodded, agreeing with him. Everyone knew about the tragedy that went upon her the past year and she was only slowly getting back on track without being too depressed over losing a lost one. Sure, Franck didn’t go through that but heartbreak was heartbreak no matter what the forms were and she hoped she could do something for him as well. It was just that, she didn’t know who he was flirting with and she couldn’t get any information that might help Franck in the long run. She still took a mental note to make sure about it.
It was true that it wasn’t always easy to tell who was gay or not hence not everyone wore the gay flag above their heads. Not all gays had feminine manners and even if a guy might have those, didn’t mean they were gay. She couldn’t say she was good at telling who was and who wasn’t either. “That’s true, it’s not always easy.” She admitted feeling bad for him. She could tell that he was a bit hurt by it. “But don’t give up Franck, I’m sure you’ll find the right person for you.” She said wanting to be reassuring. She did think of if she met people who could be good for Franck that she’d present them to him!

Why was it so hard to find a nice guy? Maybe he didn't look at the right places. Then again, he knew that his caring nature could feel smothering to some, and this certainly didn't help. He chastised himself over his attitude about what happened. It was just a simple mistake. But he still felt the awkwardness of this moment when he thought about it and it prevented him from simply laughing it off. It could happend to misread the signs and Charles had not reacted too offended by it. But he still reacted in a way that, ultimately, hurt Franck. Maybe it was how quickly he had agreed to the fact that he should leave or how he tried to keep a distance between them afterwards.
He didn't want to think about this. It was an embarassing moment and he would get over it. He just needed some time. And, ideally, another guy to fawn over. But it was hard to find one. He should know. It was not like he was hiding his homosexuality but he was not showing it off. He didn't want it to represent who he was, for it did not. It simply represented who he was attracted to.
He laughed, but in a much kinder way. "You're using my words against me now?" he said in a joking matter. "Maybe I should ask Dom to go boyfriend hunting with me. He's definitely better to spot them than I am. You think we can use him as a matchmaker? Then again, I'm not sure what we'll get then." He chuckled before sinking in his seat to try and relax.

Casey couldn’t blame Franck wanting to find a date and a nice guy. They seemed to be hard to find and she agreed with him. What was worse is that when you found the said nice guy, either they were taken…or dead. She shoved that thought far away in her mind and smiled a bit at Franck, hoping she would reassure him somehow. She didn’t know what words would cheer him up though, because he was a good man and deserved to have someone that was here for him.
“Why yes.” She replied to him in just a playful way. Why wouldn’t she? He too needed to be reassured. “I don’t see why people wouldn’t date you, Franck, you’re awesome the way you are and a great man to date. I’d date you.” She added as she gave him a smile. She definitely would, too bad he was gay. Being his best friend was enough for her for now.
She laughed a bit as he talked about Dominic Smith. “I’ve heard that he got dates often, do you want casual hookups or a date? I don’t know if he’d be good at this? I think you know him better than I do and if he is good at finding matches, sign me in.” She added with a grin.

Franck wasn't so desperate that he wanted love no matter what but he got to admit that he missed having someone to be intimate with and, most importantly, himself, his real self. Being a celebrity could be nice but people didn't love you, they loved an image they had of you. It was easy to find people to be around but they didn't necessarily wanted you and more to get some of your spotlight. Those people only wanted fame, privileges, your money and they were ready to be really nice to you and give everything you wanted in return, but it was not a real, honest relatioship at all, and he missed that.
He laughedas she used his words against him. "Let's be honest though, you got to be a little insane to want to date a celebrity," he stated. People wanted to know everything about you, including who your lover was and all about your lover. Some could send hate messages to them just because they didn't like them dating their favourite star. And there were all those tabloids who had fun making you date, cheat and sleep with just about everyone. "It's hard to keep a private life with our career." He thought Charles was gay, but he was wrong. It was not even a case of wanting to explore his sexuality. He really needed to figure out who was gay and who was not, that would definitely help him.
"Well, he'd be able to tell me if I have a chance with that guy at least," he said about Dominic. He was better at this than Franck was. Franck sighed heavily. "I should probably stop trying to avoid him, find a way to settle things between us," he muttered to himself.
