David warned ISABELLA WILLIAMS , he would be late. He’d been call to work on a music video and it was taking a little longer than anticipated. Not that it was something new. It rarely took less time. But more meant it also cost more, so they were working hard to be done with it. It actually took everything for David to send a text warning Isabella that she might as well come to the studio if they wanted to spend the evening together. They were afraid some technician, in other words him, would leak pictures of the video to the press. Or of Lindsey while changing or talking to the staff. He had to admit, she was not as diva as he had imagined. He couldn’t help thinking she was one of those sexy but dumb girls but he had the feeling it was a bit more a character than her real self. To what proportion, he couldn’t say. It was not like artists ever cared about the guy directing the light at them, unless it was to complain it was too bright or not appropriate. He was actually fine with that. It saved him from dealing with big egos. He was really not cut out for this. Anyway, even the photography amateur that he was, was really interested in taking pictures of this. He preferred something more realistic that whatever that decor could be described as. And boy had he been glad it was over! He still had to stay behind while Lindsey could leave, saying goodbye to them all and thanking them - no doubt just for the form - to put every piece of lighting back. And then grab his stuff. Finally free, with his bag over a shoulder, he grabbed his phone once again to text Isabella and know where she was and if she still wanted to spend the evening out with him.

Issy was done with the studio time and she was in the mood to have an evening out with David. They haven’t done that in a while, mostly because of both of their jobs and it was keeping them both busy. She hated this, considering that David was her friend and they needed more time together. She thought they had set the date and was disappointed when he texted her that it would take him longer. He’d hear from her for sure. She didn’t want to wait on people for too long, and especially not on David.
At last! She thought when she got the text from him that told her that he was done. She had wanted to have a meal but she got one on her own, now she wanted to go out and they might as well hit a club or something. It would change their minds and especially hers knowing that he had worked with a pop star. She wasn’t jealous, she just hated that he had to be at work for a little longer time because of a little pop star.
She texted him back and told him she was waiting for him outside of the studio. He knew how she looked like and if he needed more information, he could always text her again.

David knew how Issy was like. She needed to vent every now and then and, most importantly, she needed someone by her side who was really rooting for her. She’d likely deny it, but he knew she needed to see him at times just to have the proof some people liked her more than, let’s say, her cousin. Or whoever gave her some inferiority complex. Again, it was not something he’d tell to her face, but it was definitely how he saw it. Not that he minded though. They were truly friends and if there was one person ready to do anything for her, it was him. So being there because she needed someone there, he was more than fine with that. Even if sometimes it was terribly painful. With a bit of luck, she wouldn’t rest her head on his shoulder while watching a movie or hug him or anything like that to remind him how much he’d want more of that.
He got her text and he made his way out, hoping he would find her easily. Studios were huge but she gave enough detail for him to know at which gate to locate her. And no matter how small his friend was, he figured he’d find her easily. After years of knowing her, it would be a shame if he couldn’t.
His stomach started to growl a bit as he saw her and walked towards her. He was getting hungry. He might have eaten lunch earlier but with the extra work, it felt like a lifetime ago. “Hey, sorry for the wait. You mind we find a place to eat first, I’m starving.” Did she eat already? He knew she was not exactly patient. She had a face that showed he tested her patience already.

Issy didn’t like having to wait for so long, but she couldn’t blame him. She could blame his job though and the person who had held him back for so long! Why did he have to participate to a video with someone as famous as the pop star was? She wasn’t jealous of him, but she did want to spend time with her friend and knowing that she couldn’t do so when she wanted annoyed her a little. She was willing she was a bit possessive over their friendship, but he was the only thing that she had and could truly rely on. She didn’t want him to walk away from her that easily and it sucked when work was at fault too.
“I’ve already eaten but I know a bar where we can go and they serve food.” And alcohol. She thought, because she was certain that she needed it, and he could probably use some of it too now that he finally was out of his job.
She knew how overtime could be sometimes and it didn’t always happen when you wanted to do so.

It was not like Isabella had never made him wait in the past. They had a job that sometimes made them work weird schedules. Especially him, he supposed, but no doubt an artist would refuse for Isabella to leave until they were satisfied with their recording session, so he never complained. Issy didn't have his patience though.
He nodded when she mentioned a bar. So she wanted to drink tonight. Not like he minded. They could have just as easily drank beer at one or the other's place. He was up for it. As long as it was not a karaoke thing, then he was out. She may be a good singer but he had no desire to humiliate himself like this in public. Around her was enough.
"That's fine with me. I'm glad we're done with the filming," he said, ready to follow Isabella to whatever place she wanted to go. He wondered if she'd go for a place they often went to or one that was closest to the studio. He supposed her choice would help him know just how irritated she was over the wait she forced upon her

Issy was a bit annoyed by the fact that it took so long for David to finish his work. She didn’t know why but she didn’t like the idea of him being around someone like Lindsey Bates for too long. He was her friend, it was natural that she worried he might be with an airhead, right? At least, that was the impression she was giving when she was doing interviews and the likes. Eh, she never liked Lindsey’s type. The more she thought about the girl, the more upset she became though and she tried not to let it show. It wasn’t David’s fault if he had to work with her. It was his job and you couldn’t pick the artist you were working for. She knew that pretty well.
She nodded slightly, barely listening to what he had said to her. “I’m glad too, that way, we can enjoy ourselves and forget about work.” She wanted to say Lindsey but she had to restrain herself and work hard not to say hurtful things. David didn’t deserve this. “I wanted to try a bar that is close to her and I heard good comments about it, thought we could try it.” She told him. She knew they also served food so David would be good with having a meal there too.

It wasn’t like David talked much to Lindsey. She had no reason to talk to him really. He was not the director, or a dancer or even there to do her makeup; he was just the guy putting the lights in place. To him, it was just a job. He didn’t even think of Lindsey as the client or anything like that. It was a thing he had to do and he cared little about anything else than what he had to do.
Issy didn’t seem about his job but he could not believe it was only because she had to wait. It was not the first time they had to delay if not cancel a ‘date’ they had together. She was just as guilty of this as he was and she never made that kind of face before. He wondered why she was in such a foul mood. Did something happen that she really wanted to talk to him about and this sort of ruined it? He hoped not.
“Anything happened?” he asked since she too mentioned worked and how glad she was to be done with it. He knew she sometimes had a hard time. It was rough on her to work on someone’s song when they were so terrible but very popular nonetheless and know she was a good yet struggling artist herself. At the same time, she didn't look the way she did when she wanted to trash talk them.
She wanted to go to a bar. He shrugged but nodded to indicate he was fine with that. With a bit of luck, they would have wings or at least some nachos he could order with it so he’d eat.He was really hungry. “I follow you or we take one car?” He didn’t know if she came with a car or a cab or a bus so he figured he should ask. He knew he would be best not to leave his here but he could just move it elsewhere before they went.

Issy didn’t like feeling like this but she tended to be a bit…possessive when David was held from work, especially when he was held by someone like Lindsey. These girls awlays tended to blow her self-confidence. They were prettier, not necessairly brighter, but certainly prettier than she was and what were boys looking for when they wanted to date? They first looked at the body, and she couldn’t say she had much to compliment herself. Sure, she was slim, but she never considered herself to be over the top pretty like Lindsey.
What didn’t help was that she had to wait for him because of this. Don’t get her wrong, she didn’t have any feelings other than friendship for him but she still disliked it strongly.
She shook her head when he questioned her. No nothing happened, unless he was hiding something from her, which would be stupid, right? They were best friends, after all. Though, David was always the most considerate one and she wouldn’t be surprised to know he wanted to spare her by not telling her that anything happened with another girl because he didn’t want her to be a third wheel.
She dind’t need to take a car when it came to working and always used common transportation. « I came by bus so unless you want to leave your car here, it’d be best if we’d take it. » she said to him.

David had to admit, a part of him loved to see Isabella so jealous that he could have chosen to spend time with others instead of her, even if what took on his time was work and not a pretty lady. Well, a pretty lady was involved in this case, but that was besides the point. Or was it? He could not even remember if he told her who he was working for today so he didn't know if she could be mad that he spent his time lighting Lindsey Bates so she may look her best.
If he liked that attitude though, it also came with some pain. After all, as soon as he was back with her, she was giving him the cold shoulder. She wanted him around her but she didn't want him as a boyfriend, making him feel sometimes like he was more like her plaything and she didn't like when others took him off the shelf she put him on. On one hand, he had a boost of ego seeing her jealous that he could get the attention of another girl but on the other, she blew him off as soon as the attention was gone, throwing him back into the friend zone. The friend zone sucked.
She refused to answer him, making him believe she was still a little upset. With some luck, she'll loosen up soon. Or the beer will do that for her. He just wished he wouldn't get too many harsh comments in return. He still waited for her to answer him because dropping the matter and asking how she wanted to go to the bar. He looked around and winced before passing a hand in his thick brown hair. "Yeah, I think it's best we go with my car then. I don't want to come back here and get the stinky eye by the guard for making him open me up." He didn't want the guy to think he left to impress some girl by working in a studio. He was well aware he was nothing in this industry, but he was not trying to be one.
He walked towards his car. Isssy knew it, it was not like she wouldn't know where to go, plus he figured she'd follow him. He didn't want to ask about her mood, at least not until they were in a public place where she might dare less to yell at him. He'd wait until they were at the bar to have that conversation.

Isabella didn’t know the kind of effect that she had on David or that she was friendzoning him. To her, he was a friend and a very good one so it was natural that she was a tad…jealous that he was spending time with other girls, right? Don’t get her wrong, she thought that he could date anyone but she had restraints on who he could date and she didn’t want him to be with one of those pop stars like Lindsey. She would never forgive him if that was going to happen.
She nodded at what he said. It was true that coming back here would be bothersome for him and she didn’t want that to happen. Besides, she wanted to relax and enjoy herself with a friend. She didn’t want to have to think that he might have to go back to the car and end up having to come back earlier.
She wasn’t going to tell him that she was upset he was working later than usual because she wasn’t willing to admit it just yet. “How was your job?” She randomly asked him as they were heading towards the car. It was the best option for him, anyways.

David understood Isabella's point of view, perhaps better than she did. It didn't make hi feel any better though. He knew he should tell her that he didn't care for those pop stars, he wanted her, but he could not. Anyway, girls like Lindsey likely would never even give him the time, let alone date him. He wouldn't be surprised to hear she thought all of his previous girlfriends were stupid though. He only wished it was a sign she loved him too and was waiting for him to confess, but he didn't think it was the case.
She went into his car, as he expected. He didn't think she needed an invitation once they determined to go to the bar with it. With the car between them, he could not see Isabella and judge how he should answer her. "Long. Pop stars really make huge videos. We still got more scenes to film tomorrow." Staying up in the air to move the lights, getting it to hit the spots you were order and staying in place like this until it was over, you really felt how long it could be, more than when you were constantly running around.
He got in his car, started the engine. "And you? You didn't say earlier." If he was to learn she had a rough day, he would know he was really unlucky today. It was the prize for being in love with someone who had such a short fuse. He drove away from the parking, passed through the gate and went towards the bar she mentioned. He vaguely knew where it was, from the indications she gave him earlier. He figured she'd help him and tell him at the very least if he went too far.

Isabella had never figured out that David liked her that way. As more than friends and wanted to date her. The thought never crossed her mind and if it did, she only chased it, finding it way too weird for her own good. She thought that it would be like dating a brother, consideirng how close they were and the thought itself was weird.
She listened to him when he talked about his day and was glad that he, at least, seemed to have been bored being around a pop star. « They’re known to make it big. » She said with a nod. She also knew a couple of pop stars who shouldn’t even be allowed to sing or look at the footage she made for them because they had a big ego. She was curious to see which category Lindsey was taking part of. « It’s still nod done? ! » She asked slightly surprised. It ought to be pretty big, with lots of special effects. She wondered about if it would ever be visually beautiful.
« It was fine, I’m dealing with decent people this time, which is a nice change. » shes aid to him.

”Well, their songs all sound the same, so they have to give a little something different to stay relevant,” he pointed out. Now, Lindsey was gorgeous for sure, and so were the dancers that came for the shoot, but it was not like they had the time for the little guy setting up the lights to stand there in awe. He saw why people found her so hot and sexy. She had the assets to be one of the hottest pop singers around. While David appreciated the view, he didn’t care much. This was work, for once, and he had his eyes on another girl. She may be shorter in stature and forms but she was the better looking one in his eyes. Still, he felt like saying he spent the day watching a bunch of sexy people dancing to the latest pop hit song would not please said girl.
He laughed at her surprise. ”You really think they shoot all this in just one day? When there is more than one setting?” He didn’t think Isabella would be much interested into watching the final result. David was not the kind to watch a movie or show and say ‘see that lighting effect there? All me’. He was not into that kind of consideration. He barely noticed the lighting either, unless it was done in a genius or terrible way, much like the rest of the world. Maybe did he notice it a little more while watching stuff made in front of a blue or green screen. He often felt the lighting could look fake then.
He thought it was perhaps safer not to stick too much on the video he worked on today and moved on to her job. He chuckled. ”You mean you didn’t have someone abusing the autotune for a change?” he teased as he parked. They would have to walk a little way to the bar but it could be so hard getting good parking space around here that he did not risk losing this one while trying to get closer.

Isabella still didn’t like the idea of David spending time with Lindsey Bates, pop star known for having a great body, and one that was probably much sexier than hers. She knew that she didn’t have curves and it’s important to state there that she didn’t think that to get David’s attention. He was her best friend, but she couldn’t hide the unwelcomed feeling she was going through right now. She nodded slowly as he talked about their songs. “Indeed, the only thing that sells is their body.” Maybe they were harsh and cruel words but it was what she thought.
“No but I didn’t think it would take that long.” She admitted; to her, those videos were like short films that didn’t need a lot of arrangements. It was true that nowadays they were looking forwards the best visually videos but she didn’t think it was something worthy.
She nodded. “It was a good change.” She said as she looked out of the window while he was driving to find a good parking. She didn’t mind not being close to the bar.

David shrugged. He believed that too. A lot of pop stars were famous more for their body and what they could do with it than their vocal talent. At the risk of being hated by Isabella, he pointed out "Well, Lindsey's got a voice too." It was true. Oh, sure, the song was recorded and she lip synched during the video but, if that really was her voice, she had a powerful one. She could use her voice only, but he supposed that when you had a body like hers, people wanted you to use it. Or she enjoyed the attention. Not that she looked all that flirtatious during the filming but he didn't pay that much attention to her during the day, so he had no idea if she did it on purpose or it was forced on her.
He was aware that something like that might not please her. She had the voice but maybe not the body, not like Lindsey's body at least and no one paid attention to her. But she was not the only voice around here and he could not pretend otherwise just to make her feel good. That didn't change the fact she was his favourite.
He had another shrug at her surprise. "I'm getting used to it. And I don't really mind, it means more work for me." It was not like he really cared what was being shot. Well, to a certain limit, as he supposed he wouldn't work on just any set, but that was beside the point. Since he had nothing to do with what was being filmed, he tried not to pay too much attention, unless there was something happening he thought Isabella could find interesting.
When they arrived at the bar, he looked at Isabella. "You look like you really need a drink, good thing we're here." As for him, he was starving, so he didn't care whether or not the beer was good as long as they offered some food with it.
