Charles was aware that he might sound like a boring man to Franck. He bet that talking to famous people who were more extravagant gave you certain expectations of others. He wanted Franck to know what he was dealing with if he wanted to keep him company. It was weird to him that Franck was still willing to be by his side. He almost expected the guy to fall asleep right next to him. He glanced back at his brother when he turned his head towards him. He was seemingly doing quite well in the crowd. He bet he wouldn’t even have to come here in the first place.
He nodded when Franck seemed to understand his opinion on the subject. “Sometimes I feel like I’m too protective.” He admitted to Franck despite the fact that you never knew when you would end up being on the bad guy.
He sat back and relaxed a bit when the conversation went towards hiking, a subject he knew rather well. “Not that far, actually, there is a park in here that is convenient for it if you don’t want to go far but I do like to travel to other states just for that. I can’t say I have a favorite yet. It depends on the time I have to do this.” He said to Franck.

Franck was the type of person who always tried to put people at ease, to set an atmosphere where everyone could have fun. He was comfortbale with thrill-seeking people like Dominic, but also with calmer ones. He could both spend a day out with a friend or stay inside with a glass of wine and discuss things. In this case, Charles felt like the outside in the situation and Franck was not going to let him suffer through the evening just to allow his brother to meet with people from the industry. He could spend time with the guy and make his time here feel less tedious. Plus, it wasn't as though Franck found him boring, even if he didn't have as much of an interest to hiking as the other man.
He smiled at Charles' admission. "Nothing wrong with that. You also have experience in that field, you know the risks and costs. But you also care for him. I mean, you even let him stay with you at Palm Woods." He didn't know exactly how old was Charles' brother, but he seemed old enough to have his own place, if there was a reason why he couldn't be with their family. Franck's valued family highly, despite it being a touchy subject for him. He couldn't fault Charles in any way here.
He seemed to relax when Franck questioned him about hiking. It was clearly something he was more comfortable talking about. Franck stared at him, nodding slightly as he listened to him. "That's great. Does that mean you also enjoy camping, or it is just hiking? Have you tried in other countries?"

To Charles, it was odd that someone like Franck might take interest in him. He didn’t know for sure what he was up to but he could handle a conversation about hiking and the best places one should go to in order to do so. They clearly were opposites on lots of aspects and it had him wonder if he was interested in him altogether. He was slightly relieved to know that Franck didn’t have anything against him being close to his brother. His family was a tight knitted one after all and they taught them to be that way and support each other when they needed it. Besides, it was less lonely to know you had someone to greet you home when you came back from work. He might enjoy his alone time but he liked getting news from his brother and hear about his ambitions. Him being here only proved that he supported the other guy in his dreams while studying in university. “It’s easier for us and it’s also closer to the university he goes to. It was a logical choice.” He said back to Franck.
“I wouldn’t mind going camping for a weekend but I don’t think I would handle doing more than three days.” He liked the comfort of a home but also enjoyed nature. “I prefer hiking for sure and I do check places I can go to whenever I go out.” He said, nodding when he asked about other countries. “Sometimes, but for now I explore the country, there is a lot to see.” He said and besides, he would go out of the country if the job allowed him to do so and he always looked for the opportunity to explore the nature around.

Franck was not trying to flirt with Charles. The man made it clear that he was not interested in other men in that way. But Franck was also not trying to flirt with just any guy he would talk to. He was not a frivolous like that. He simply wanted to put Charles at ease when he felt out of place here. And he could find an interest in what he was saying. Maybe he didn't care about hiking but it was something that Charles was clearly passionate about and so Franck was willing to hear about it. Maybe he should think about hosting a show, or one of those podcasts everyone was starting these days, but he was too busy right now.
He nodded to what Charles said. "He is also closer to people who could help him achieve his goals. I know people like to talk badly about 'nepo babies' and the like, but there is nothing wrong with that. It is an advantage, but it would not allow you to have a long-lasting career." Franck had no opinion against those who had family in the entertainment. They were free to try being part of it as well, and there was nothing wrong in having the right connections. It was a plus, just like having experience of the cost of such a life. Sometimes Franck wished he had known beforehand. But he also loved this job too much to quit.
Franck wasn't even sure he could do one day. Unless they were in a VR or something like that. He was not picturing himself in a tent in the middle of a forest. He nodded in agreement with Charles. "That's true, it is a pretty big country, with very different scenery based on which state you are in." Franck did not explore a whole lot of it himself. He barely saw snow, at least not as much as some states could have. He mostly knew about the state of California. "Is there a place you'd like to go, if you could go anywhere?"

Charles couldn’t agree more. Palm Woods was there to open doors for him and his future career. Just now, he was blossoming into a full fledge artist. He had his own style and didn’t care about people’s opinions on him. It was what you needed to do when you were trying to make it in the entertainment industry. People would judge you no matter what you did. He bet that people even started talking about his brother knowing that the two were spending time together. “I’m pretty sure that if it goes well today, things will work for him.” He said referring to his brother.
He too couldn’t picture Franck in a tent. The man didn’t give him the impression of being a fan of sleeping in nature and being in communion with it. Perhaps he could convince him to go for a small hike some day. It was a sport you could do alone but also one where you could resource with a friend. That is, if he was willing to try.
He had to think for a moment, of a country he’d like to hike at. “I would be interested in Ireland for its greenery.” He admitted. “The only downside would be the rain.” It was similar to England. You needed to figure out the time of the year that would have the less rainfalls if you wanted to hike a couple days out.

Charles saw nothing wrong about nepotism. Sure, it could go badly, when incompetent people were put in charge only because of who they were related to. But they were talking entertainment here, not something that could cost thousands of people their lives if done poorly. There was nothing wrong with taking advantage of your connections. Charles might not know a lot of people in music but Franck knew a few and was willing to help. He didn't think he did much anyway. He merely opened the door. The boy would have to prove himself to these people on his own. "He doesn't seem to be doing too bad so far. I don't know what will come out of this but at least he can say he tried." And nothing would ever happened to people if they didn't try.
Franck had no idea that Charles was trying to picture him in nature but he would have to admit that he wouldn't fare too well. A hike, he thought he could do it. With the right people, he may even do more, but they needed to be used to that kind of stuff since it was not his case. Then again, Franck proved to Charles already what he could be like. He saw him with thunder before.
"Ireland? That's interesting," he answered. He expected Charles to say some fancier place, if he could think of anywhere. Then again, a quick look at the man had Franck realised this fit him better anyway. "Surely it's not raining every day. But the fog might not be safe either." He bet it would look good on top of a hill looking down at the foggy clearing, but he wouldn't want to walk in that.

Charles was confident that his brother would do well amongst people. He had the right amount of confidence, that didn’t show you were pretentious for the industry. That was what you needed, especially in the work you were doing. He did think that musicians needed to be very confident in their works if they wanted to be recognized later on. For actors, it was slightly different. They had to audition and show others the talent they had. He nodded, agreeing with Franck there. “I think so too. Though I just like keeping an eye on him, just in case, I guess you can call it brotherly instincts.” He couldn’t quite help it. He would always watch over his younger brother and make sure he was making the right decisions. How many stories did they hear of famous people going for drugs and alcohol? It did scare him a bit and hoped that he would make the right decisions for himself. It’s not like he should treat his sibling like a kid for the rest of his life. He had to experience it on his own too.
He did like the greenery of the landscape that Ireland had to offer. He also liked going to hills and watching the view when he was on top. It was like the gift that nature gave you for being able to go all the way up. He doubted slightly that Franck would survive a whole day of hiking but it could be surprising. He tried his best not to judge a book by its cover.
“Indeed, you have to keep an eye on the weather to see when would be a better fit for those kinds of activities.” He said. He also liked to take a camera along the way just to remember the views he had seen after that.

"I'm almost envious of him now. I'm an only child, never had someone to keep an eye on me like that," Franck replied. His smile hinted that Charles didn't need to take it too seriously if he didn't want to. But it was true that Franck had no siblings, older or younger. Even more than that, he had no family other than his parents in the country. His mother was the one who got him into acting at first, thinking it would be an interesting way for them to blend in with the people and the culture. And the language. He doubted she liked it much anymore, in big part because she was accusing the industry to have made him gay. But Franck didn't want to think of this. He doubted Charles would relax in this environment by taking care of Franck, who was only slightly more than a stranger when he thought about it.
Charles seemed to be doing better though. He didn't constantly looked towards his brother nor felt as out of place as he originally did. He was part of the group. Franck figured he should keep him talking then before he started to feel once again like a fish out of water. "You ever got caught in that type of bad weather?" Franck didn't know if he would say he was a city boy but compared to Charles and the image he was painting in his head, he clearly was. He just couldn't see himself doing hiking and camping. Glamping felt like cheating too. Maybe for a one off, a special on a show, for a few hours in one day, but not really more. He was fine with his outdoor activities to be nothing more extreme than cycling down the beach and its boardwalk.

Charles knew he might be overprotective right now but he couldn’t help it. He was also aware that not all siblings were like them, some were close but in different ways as well. “I guess it’s because I was raised that way.” Indeed, he always watched over his little brother while his parents were working. He just never grew out of it and would only if Luke asked for it. He would respect that for sure. He didn’t want to sound nosy but places like this one tended to be quite frightening especially when you were trying to become someone. His brother was ambitious and aware of his talent. He had to give him that. Luke probably stole the confidence he had back then when he started. He wasn’t as confident. He would definitely do well without him around.
He shook his head when Franck questioned him. “I’ve been lucky; the times I got caught I was mostly done with the hike.” He said. In his daily life, he didn’t tend to look at the weather channel but when he intended to hike or go camping he made sure that there would be no rain, or at least, no extreme weather on his way out. He liked to plan it that much. Of course, the weather could be tricky but he didn’t mind it much. He was indeed more at ease around Charles; he didn’t mind answering whatever question he had. Besides, that guy was better at keeping up a conversation than he was.

Franck sometimes felt like he couldn't get through to Charles. Maybe he was just that on the defensive all the time, or he didn't realise it was the impression he gave others. Franck hoped he was able to make Charles feel a little more at ease here at least. He nodded at his response. "Well he's lucky to have you. Especially if he wants to work in this business. It's always good to have someone you can rely on who is really there with your best interest at heart." But Charles would know that, being an actor himself. It made Franck wonder who was Charles' support and he thought that maybe it was his little brother, or at least that Luke was the reason why he would do his best.
He listened as Charles talked of hiking. "I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to have to hike in the middle of a storm, or to have to set up camp, being all wet, cold and incomfortable, only hoping not to get sick after this." Was he worrying too much? Charles said he barely got caught in such weather. But some people might not care or think about that until it happens. Or worse, crave that experience. Franck couldn't understand those. "I guess we are used to our comfort. Or is it just me?" he said with a light chuckle. But he had to admit it was not something he could see himself doing. He may enjoy the countryside, or even the mountains, but only if there was a cozy inn or lodge waitin for him at the end of the day. "You've ever done it for a show, or you'd rather keep work and hobbies separated?"
