Megan was aware that it might be weird to ask someone like Hiroto to be her dance partner but she believed he could dance, from what she had seen back then, and even if they might not have similar styles it might work out in the end. She could rethink her choreography and make it work and besides, she didn’t have any students that were interested in getting into dancing competitions as they all had other things on the side to take care of as it was mostly complimentary to their jobs.
“Not only that.” She objected as he made her sound as if she was in a place of no return, maybe a little but she didn’t think he was her last resort but he was a good option for sure. “I think you could do the job.” She said. She didn’t want her chances to the competition to get ruined however, it was seemingly looking forward to. Why was he always second-guessing her arguments? It was annoying, couldn’t he just agree? She wasn’t going to make him her long-life partner if it was what he worried about. She needed him now.
“And if we win, I have no objection to split the price.” She added. She didn’t know what else she could do but she was starting to be defeated and didn’t like that feeling at all.

Hiroto had seen a little bit of Megan's dance style. She even had him dance with her once, he recalled. It was different from what he normally did, mostly because he didn't dance with a partner when performing. With such different styles, he was surprised she would ask him to be her partner. If it was for a choreography at her school, he might get. But she was talking competition, something he barely ever did even in his own style, mostly because he couldn't cover the entry fee. "Me?" he said, surprised by her assessment. From what little she showed him, he didn't see what skill of his could have her believe he'd be good. Sure, he knew how to dance. He could fly across a dance floor if he wanted, but he never tried her style before and it was a lot of work to do if she wanted to enter a competition. He was not even thinking of the price. He didn't care about letting her have all of it. He was not into it for the money, if money was the price. He was thinking of the work it would require. He didn't mind not working as a street performer, as it was more on his time than the rest, but he had other obligations. More than just work. "How often would the practice be? I have work and school once a week," he explained. He was not willing to admit just yet that said school was to learn how to read properly. He was getting there but it was so difficult for him still. And then it was to finish high school. He didn't want to put that aside for her. He might do it for some people but he didn't know Megan enough for her to be one such person. He wanted to show the kids in his neighbourhood that school was important, at least the basics. MADE BY ★MEULK

Meg knew that they both had different styles, one could almost say that they were opposite as hers tended to be more of the ballroom type. There were competitions for these and she wanted to be part of it still despite being in trouble with the lack of a partner! She had hopes that he would agree, they got along well and he could fit the place. She just needed to review the choreography a little and she could make it work. The more she thought of it, the more it made sense that it was what she needed to do.
“Yes.” She said, looking at him with pleading eyes. He had to agree, what would she do otherwise? She had no one to ask to and she didn’t feel comfortable asking another student.
“As often as you can attend to it. I can work a schedule around yours.” It was the truth, after all, she had more time to dance than he had as she was aware that school might be important to her. They really were opposites after all.

Hiroto never really thought aout doing competitions. He was not dancing for that. If he could be seen, that would be great, of course, but he wanted to do it because he enjoyed it. He wanted to do hiphop and breakdance and add acrobatics to those. He was skeptical about ballroom dancing, for he never tried that before. If it was for something casual, if Megan asked him for an event at her dance school to show how everyone could learn, he'd get it. But a competition was something of a whole other level. She looked really desperate as she pleaded him to accept. Why him when she no doubt had plenty of other choices at her school? Then again, they might already be competing or preferred their partner and weren't used to have another one. He didn't know, he never tried it. There was the matter of his school though. She didn't inquire on it. Perhaps it was best. She probably thought it was about college, he was of the age for that. It wasn't though. He didn't feel the need to say he was a school dropout, let alone that he could barely read properly. This Alice in Wonderland book was really tough on him. He normally read books with a kid in his neighbourhood. Well, the kid read most of it and Hiroto read some parts. He tried to read ahead, but this one was too weird. The text was full of made-up words and nonsensical sentences. He was lost. That made him think that he did spend a lot of time with the kids where he lived. He will have to sacrifice some of this if he were to practice with Megan. "At your school? You might have to go where I live sometimes." The ded end where they danced the last time was big enough. Or they could get to a rooftop if needed. Although it made sense, it felt so weird to him, the idea of going to her school. She wasn't exactly high class but she was in the upper middle for sure, while he was around the bottom of the barrel. It would be awkward to him and he'll have to shake it off. MADE BY ★MEULK

Meg was also dancing because she enjoyed it but she also wanted to make a living out of it and if it was something that you were seeking for you had to think of going to competitions to get yourself known. She had worked so hard on her routine with her other partner, she didn’t want it to get ruined because he was injured. She felt bad for the other guy, that was certain, but she also worried she might lose her chance if she didn’t attend to it. It worried her to death and she needed Hiro to accept to join her. She could change a few things that would fit his style more and in a way, it might help her case if she was able to form a new dance style with theirs merged together. There was something that could be done that was certain.
She hoped that he would agree, she would have to find other solutions otherwise and she didn’t know if she had a plan C. She was trying the B plan and wanted to make sure that it would work out. She was willing to work around his schedule if she needed to it.
She nodded, agreeing to go to where he went if she had to. “I wouldn’t mind, I can work anything out. I’m pretty flexible.” They’d definitely have to work on their schedules but she was willing to do what he wanted.

Hiro also love to dance, there was no denying that. He had very few things he had bee good at or praised for in his life, but this was one. He also knew how to do a bunch of acrobatics, making him pretty good at parkour, should someone ever tell him what parkour was. But he didn't know if that was enough to make a living. Unlike Megan, he was not doing competitions. He was not appearing in music videos. He didn't even have some social medias where he could publish his performances. Some people did. He saw them bring out their phone while he was dancing, but he did not. Too much of a hassle and he knew too little about tech to handle it himself. His priority was more in the small community he was a part of. There weren't that many poor people in here, or at least poor who could afford lodging. Hiro was doing all the small jobs he could find while trying to help. And study right now, which took a lot of his time. But Megan was not a bad person. She said nothing about the clear difference of status between them and the people around him. Hiro normally had no problem turning down people, but she didn't feel as complacent as many of them could be. And it was odd to him that she'd reach for him of all people. Even if the pros were already competing to working on their things with their own partner, there must be some students good enough. Hiro felt like she was asking to lose by wishing him to be her partner. But it was her competition. He had no care for it. He put his books in his bag. he dug through it to get his phone, the only piece of technology he owned. He didn't have much of a choice, it became such a necessity in this world. "You can put your name in it and get my number. I'm not good with that," he said as he handed her the phone. He didn't always knew when he worked, it depended on the job he had at the moment. And there were others things he was involved in. But it would be easier to arrange things if they could reach each other and not accidentally meet in a park every time. MADE BY ★MEULK

Megan had a passion for dancing and she knew that Hiro had one too. She thought that he might be a great fit for a dance partner too. She was aware it might take a lot of convincing to do on her part for him to actually want to be with her. It was just going to be for one competition, the time her dance partner healed and then she would go back with him. Finding a new one at her school was not an option either as they were all taken or some even preferred to dance in a group. She couldn’t blame them; none of them were as fierce as she was when it was to tackling competition. Besides, it could give Hiro a good income knowing where he came from. She would have to make sure that he knew she didn’t do this simply out of kindness but also because she believed in his talent, which might be another hard task for her to do!
She already had ideas of her own, for choreography and was willing to get her head in it right when Hiro would agree…if he did. She didn’t know what she would do if he’d say know. She might have to give up on her chance at winning this time and it wasn’t an idea she was ready to accept yet.
She perked up a bit when he handed her his phone and smiled brightly. “Does that mean you agree?” She asked with eyes full of hope. She grabbed the phone and typed her number in with her name. She gave him her personal phone number; it would be easier to contact him that way than using the phone’s company.

Hiro had no idea how 'good' his performances could be viewed by people. Well, he had an idea, based on people's reaction whenever he danced, but he couldn't tell if that was the kind of thing that could win competitions. Let alone the type of competition Megan usually participated in. By her reaction, it was something she cared deeply about. Hiro thought she must have been backed into a corner to ask him, a guy she barely knew and who never participated to any competition, to be her partner this time around. She didn't want to forfeit. That, he could understand. He was just as passionate about dance as she appeared to be, but he thought he was not as ambitious. She wanted to make a name for herself in that domain. He was willing to give it all up if he had to. In a strange way, it was why he was dancing the way he did and could be careless at times. He simply had nothing to lose in his mind, because he was willing to move on. While it could make some people not give their all, it made him push himself to the limit and dare things, as a form of one-time experience. He didn't expect such a strong reaction over simply asking for her phone number. She was already oh-so-happy about him accepting to be her dance partner. "I have work and studies and other obligations. But I will do my best." He wasn't sure where they would meet. The thought had yet crossed his mind that he might have to go to her dance studio. That would be a first for him and given his appearance compared to hers, he figured he would clash. But right now, she offered him a chance to give up on Alice. That book was too complicated for him. He already struggled too much to read words and the writer twisted them and came up with new one. He'll have to read it with a girl in his apartment complex. She wouldn't mind reading with him, or for him, and explain words he didn't understand. He didn't have the kind of pride that would make a man his age be embarrassed to ask a girl in elementary school anyway. He let her put in her phone number and pull out his, assuming she knew. Otherwise he'd simply give it to her. He just, as he told her, didn't like technology too much and barely understood all of the functions there were in a modern phone, even one not-so-modern as his. Megan was aware that they were dancing different styles but she thought it was precisely what she might need to bring the competition to another level. They might be able to blend both of their styles to make something unique that would get them more credibility amongst other dancers. She already had plans in her head and she was not telling them to Hiro yet. She had to think it through and would also ask for her sister’s opinion on the matter. After all, she did train famous bands so her input might be good for her as well!
She was relieved and beyond happy that he accepted the partnership she suggested. It would be great, and she had a lot of work to do on her own before they would meet up. She knew that he had various obligations; so did she, and she thought it was perfect to give her time to think of a proper choreography. “That’s perfectly fine with me, I promise.” She said to him with a more serious expression. “It will give me time to think through the whole choreography and come up with something that would merge both of our styles.” She said with a wider grin.
When she finished putting her phone number in his phone, she checked in the options that showed him so she could get it. He didn’t seem to be too at ease with tech so she would rather do it to save him time and troubles. When she was done, she gave it back to him. “Thanks, and just call me when you have time then we will start working on it.” She said happily. Thank God he was willing to help her save the competition. She wouldn’t want all of her work to go to waste!

What kind of obligations did Megan have? Did she work somewhere, other than the dance studios? If it was just in dance, maybe she offered classes or danced in videos or films requiring dancers in the background. It wasn't something Hiroto would know much, as he barely ever watched anything. He just didn't have a television at home. He also wondered if she went to college or anything else like that. Did she think he meant college when he said studies? With his age, it would be logical. And maybe why she didn't question any further when he mentioned it. There must be quite a few people their age doing that. He tried not to think too much about it. At least she was not making fun of him for struggling so hard at basic things like reading. Or technology, as she didn't comment on his old phone. Or choreography for that matter. He barely had ones, at least not the way she must mean it. So much of what he did was freestyle that it was a bit weird to him that you could come up with a choreography for it. Or something that could merge both styles. But he also heard some others in his neighbourhood say they made movies doing that so it might not be all that weird. "Are you sure people will love it? They will not think it's... making your style look less?" There must have been a term to describe what he was trying to say but he didn't know it. He was used to people assuming he was less though. "You want me to call you?" He thought she would, but if she wanted that, he supposed he would have to. He tended to live on a day by day basis but he supposed he could plan a little more ahead to fit her somewhere instead of going with her schedule. He looked down at his phone, trying to remember when was his next free afternoon, or evening. "I'll tell you when I'm free," he then said, since she apparently wanted that. MADE BY ★MEULK
